Cheesy 80s movie about wrestling and the most awkward character in the history of film. And not good awkward like Michael Cera. Really, really bad awkward that talks about "THE BEST PART ABOUT WORKING OUT A LOT IS YOU GET A LOT OF NOCTURNAL EMISSIONS" to the girl that he likes. Also the same Madonna song plays like six times over the course of the movie. |

As you might be able to tell, I'm going through movies from this year that I missed before Oscar night. Current queue is: Moneyball, Midnight in Paris, The Ides of March, War Horse, Hugo, The Tree of Life, and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier Spy. Hopefully I'll get viewings of The Help, Warrior, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Source Code, and Rango in by then too. Not going near Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. Current Top 5 Films of 2011: 1. Drive 2. Super 8 3. The Artist 4. 50/50 5. The Muppets |

It's long but it rocks. It's the superior companion piece to his more well known film Suicide Circle, which is interesting but ultimately disappointing. Circle is like a good student film: ambitious but messy. |

Anyway, technically I'm only... eight minutes in, but I'm trying to watch Scott Pilgrim. Trying because well it's hard to watch movies on my laptop when I only have one monitor. Luckily I have a flatscreen monitor in my car. |

This is not always how I spend my days off, mind you, but one of my favorite websites is having a reader poll on the best Hong Kong films of the 1980's and I felt that it was a great impetus for me to watch some movies that I've been meaning to watch for a while now. So I managed to squeeze in Dragons Forever and Dangerous Encounter - 1st Kind before I entered my ballot in at the last minute. The former is one of Jackie Chan's better films from the 1980's, the latter is a spectacularly nihilistic film that will induce seizures in any PETA members who come across it. |
