If consumers absorb the price increases without issue, we believe it bodes well for the pricing power of the movie exhibition industry
But if consumers don't just absorb it without issue, you're boned.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

They're already outrageous, here. I hardly ever go to the movies now.

I haven't went to a movie that wasn't free in almost six years.
And even that was because my date wanted to go to a movie we could ignore.

I'd just buy popcorn and watch a Law and Order Marathon.

Because that's just how I roll.

^ I noticed some really sloppy texturing in the trailer for that. Will not see.

Even though the prices sting, I go the movies nearly every weekend (and sometimes mid-week as well). In my opinion, the experience of seeing a film on the big screen (the way its meant to be seen) more than makes up for the price.

Plus, prices really depend on WHERE you go. Here in Canada, I usually go to Cineplex theatres which currently cost $12.50 for normal films, $14.50 for 3D films, and $17.50 for IMAX films. Films are slightly cheaper at AMC ($11), since I get a discount for being a member of the rewards program. There is an independent arthouse cinema I go to, which usually costs no more than $9. Then, of course is the repertory cinema, which only costs $5-8 (plus $3 six month membership).

This and the proliferation of gimmicky 3D movies makes me think Hollywood is going to be experiencing a giant empty bursting bubble in the next few years.

^ Yeah, it wouldn't be that bad if someone would make something decent in 3D. I'll keep my fingers crossed for Sin City 2.
