New Riddick Film

So I have been a fan of Vin Diesel's on Facebook for a while now, and if you take a look at his wall, you'll see some stuff from a new Riddick film. I know he made claims a while back, and he has now posted a pic.

His comment on the posting of the picture was,

The post has reached 9323 likes (including my own) as of right now. ('Twas posted about 35 minutes ago according to Facebook)

I commented on how I would have growled back, if it wouldn't have made it even creepier...

Anyway, wiki page for second film and its sequel section.

Another article on Comingsoon.net, written on March 11, 2005, reports that Vin Diesel states that Chronicles 2 was to deal with The Underverse, while Chronicles 3 was to conclude the series with a return to Furya.[5]

An article dated November 10, 2007, on countingdown.com, further indicates that a sequel may be in works - "We're talking about it". David Twohy indicates however that it "probably won't be a Universal movie and probably will be an independent movie" seeing a much smaller budget.[6]

Two more sequels have been confirmed for production, and David Twohy is now writing the scripts.[7] Diesel told MTV News that in spite of the poor reception, the time between the sequels is only about getting it right, not about trying to find support.

"Everyone knows I love the Riddick character and I’m always working on it,” Diesel asserted. “It just takes five years to make another one because David Twohy and I are so precise about it.”[8]

On March 20, 2009, Vin Diesel commented on a sequel in an interview on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, stating that David Twohy has nearly finished scripts, and is planning to start production on the third film in early 2010.[9]

On November 30, 2009 Vin Diesel left an update on his Facebook page effectively announcing that pre-production work is underway on the Chronicles of Riddick sequel.[10]

On February 9, 2010, Vin Diesel confirmed in an update on his Facebook page that one of the locations used in the upcoming sequel would be the White Desert in Farafra, Egypt. He mentioned the terrain features, unique to the area, would lend to the off-planet atmosphere of the film.[11]
I now must point out how

^I also remember him mentioning a new Hannibal(?) film months back when he mentioned this, if you're into those.

Oh really. You mean Hannibal Lecter, right? I didn't think he was the kind of material they look for in those. You know, usually subtle. They can't get Hopkins, anyway, which kind of ruins it.

If it turns out to be a mangled mess of too many special effects like the last one was, I think I'll pass. I liked Pitch Black, but that's probably because it wasn't all "I'm Vin Diesel, IN YOUR FACE!"

That's what I assumed. If I remember correctly he just called it a new Hannibal. I would search for the post, but I have my doubts on finding it. Lot's of posts on his page. I might consider checking in a little while though. They may have some special searching thing just for something like this, or maybe I can pull my sleeve out of my hat and get an ace of spades.

^Judging by the pic I'm going to say they have special effects.

Doesn't bother me much personally, just so long as they don't take away from the film.

Pitch black had lot's cgi as well, and so did 2. Just I think they used it alot less for creatures in 2 and used it more on background and ships and the like. Though the cgi for background was interacting with practical sets. I don't remember much of CGI being used in the film other than those and where it was probably needed. A man walking to his death in flaming vortex of doom in a far shot, for example. I suppose they could've done far away stop motion or something, but they would've still had to add more cgi anyway. CGI was easier and probably looked better than it would have otherwise. Altogether shots like that seemed epic to me. :/

Not sure what you mean by ""I'm Vin Diesel, IN YOUR FACE!"" really. :/
It is an over-the-top sci=fi action fantasy film whose main character is essentially a killing machine/ wanted mass murderer. It is probably going to be in-your-face at some point. :/
If anything it would probably be "I'm Vin DieselRiddick, IN YOUR FACE!"

But I still am not sure what exactly you mean, sooo...

Pitch Black had more important additional cast members playing traditional characters and a stoutly built plot. Chronicles felt more like a lot of it was just made up at the last second, or at least that it was missing the depth of traditional elements that made PB believable. Specifically, it's a horror sci-fi that strips the whole we-can-make-up-anything technology aspect out of it, so it can get that feeling of suspense in effect. Chronicles was fun, but it suffered from the same problems Van Hellsing and Stardust did recently. Not enough rules to ground it, and not enough real sets or believable characters or complications to ground it.

The whole Riddick series is basically just a Flash Gordon retread, anyway.
