Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole

Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of 'Hoole (2010) - IMDb

We're probably going to see it this week. Genuinely one of the most amazing and attractive digital films ever, from what I can tell.

Plus, OWLS. Who doesn't love owls? Owls are awesome and gorgeous.

Pros: Beautiful
Uncommon voice actors (meaning, they're not just the regular actors so you don't have to stop and say WHY IS OWEN WILSON A DOG?!)
Owls
Awesome

Discuss.

Have yet to see it, but one of my friends who has seen it mentioned that the CG in this movie completely blew him away.

Actually, I still need to go watch March of the Penguins.

Considering I am very disapproving of most CGI these days, I have to say, this just makes me all bouncy and squee because the screens are AMAZING.

^Same here, except for the bouncing and squeeing.

Posted about this one a bit down the page. Reminds me heavily of the Rats of Nimh. I'm hoping this film will inspire people to use more realistic animal models, and cut back on the fluff plots.

Probably won't see it in theaters due to lack of money/time, but I would like to see it at some point. Probably will eventually on DVD. What I've seen of it seems pretty good though. (Hopefully I'm not just associating it with good because it was on a DVD for the Shawshank Redemption and was with other great looking film ads. :/)

@AI: I hear a series called "Warriors" is good as well. At first I thought this may've been from the same author, but apparently it isn't. I meant to start reading Warriors but never got around to it. It may interest you.

I really want to see it! I'm excited about this sort of animation...

It must take forever to render, though.

WHY IS OWEN WILSON A DOG?!
You saw the Marmaduke trailer, & that was the most important question that came to your mind!?

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Well, I don't really know anything about Marmaduke, so that was definitely the most jarring part to me.

Yeah, it's actually a bit of a surprise how so many major comic strips don't make it here. Pretty certain the Wizard of Id hasn't, for instance. God knows, it's all crap.

What's the Warriors flick about, guild? I haven't heard anything about it.

Oh no, we definitely get Wizard of Id. There ARE a lot of comics that I had never seen until I went stateside, though.

Saw this film today. Have to say it was pretty satisfying, excluding a very awkward montage somewhere in the middle of it with some unfitting music. The art direction was great; much better than any other 100% CGI films I've seen. It retains a lot of the made-for-children level of storytelling, but actually has a story unlike crap like over the hedge.

It is a fairly similar idea I believe, simply with cats...
Either way, I have been told it is great. I got the opportunity to begin reading one of the books, and it seemed fairly good; however, sadly I didn't get far.

I figure the wikis could explain better than I could. :/

Warriors (novel series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Warriors Wiki - Erin Hunter, Night Whispers, Omen of the Stars

A couple of things I took note of were:
