Deathly Hallows Pt. II

So Harry Potter 7 II: The Revenge is coming out tonight and I figure that plenty of us shall be seeing this in the next day (including some people like me going at midnight )

can't wait to see how it turns out. It's getting really good reviews so far (Holy 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, Batman!) Expect my thoughts around 3 AM-ish.

Calling it now: number one ticket-selling movie on opening day in the history of ever.

Hyperbole? Yes. Do I think it will happen? Also yes.

^ I think I heard that the sales of midnight showings have already broken records. It's also I guess one of the widest releases ever for 2D, 3D, and IMAX.

So first thing I wanna share with you is that this is the ****ing weirdest midnight showing I've ever been at. Like, not in the way that people wearing costumes, I've gotten used to that. With about 45 minutes until showtime, there group of five high-school-to-early-college-aged kids who popped up at the theater. By this time most of the good seats in the theater had been taken, but pretty much the entire front was up for grabs. So instead of these people checking out seats by walking into the rows, the go into the front row, and then start CLIMBING OVER each row of seats to find the perfect spot. Then they noticed that there's a block of five in the mid-seats (three in one row, with two seats directly behind them), so they CLIMB OVER to those seats (after climbing around the front seats for a good fifteen minutes). However they did not know who was sitting where, so there was constant climbing over the rows in those seats until they figured out who would go where in that block. After they figured that out, they probably stood for a good five ten minutes like idiots talking very loudly about what they wanted from concessions. After only one person went to get snacks for five people, they found some of their friends that sat up front. So they climbed back over to the front row to talk to their friends. They went back and forth twice probably, continuing to climb over seats. Then when the one person came back with snacks, she found out that the friends were there and decided that it would be much better if they sat with them. So she pretty much demanded that the people who were there EARLY to get good seats give their seats up so they could sit with their friends who came late. The couple was like "lolno" and they seemed pissed, but got over it soon when they started THROWING THE ****ING POPCORN AROUND. I saw the guy in front of them get hit by popcorn at least seven times, and bless his soul because he was obviously getting pissed but didn't turn around and kill them (which is what I would've done). Honestly, some people should not be allowed in theaters.

Oh, and there was a movie too.

Spoiler Below

Previews-

Rise of the Planet of the Apes: I like James Franco but I have no interest in seeing this.

Happy Feet 2: Clearly this is going to be the best movie ever, after the astounding quality that was the first Happy Feet.

The Dark Knight Rises: Just a teaser, but you got to see a little bit of Bane (though NO CATWOMAN D: ). It was only like a minute, but it did it's job.

Sherlock Holmes 2: Looks like Sherlock Holmes 1. Looks decently funny. Will Check out.

As for the movie itself, it was fantastically done. Everything, of course looked amazing (though I'd suggest not seeing it in 3D, as the movie is pretty dark and 3D and dark movies do not go well together). The cast was excellent as they've been the past few movies. A few people especially that I'll get into later. This movie did a fantastic job adding some humor into the movie, while still keeping its serious tone and not making the movie look goofy.

The movie was a good two hours and ten minutes, but it never felt like it. The action sequences didn't overstay their welcomes, and it seemed to breeze by (though don't be an idiot like me and drink half of a large sized Mt. Dew right before the movie).

As I said the acting was great. Special nods go to Maggie Smith, who was both badass and funny. Matthew Lewis, who made Neville just as awesome as he was in the book. And then of course there was Alan Rickman. The scene where Harry looks into Snape's memories was absolutely heartbreaking, as Alan Rickman remains probably my favorite part of the entire movie series.

The revenge kill of Bellatrix Lestrange was pretty awesome. They didn't really dwell on Fred's death though. They just showed the Weasleys hugging each other, crying, and then a brief moment of Ron with his body. They only showed Lupin and Tonks for like a second, and there was hardly any reaction to their deaths.

Speaking of Lupin and Tonks, one of my only complaints with this movie is that while in part one, Tonks said that they had "something to announce", I'm pretty sure that they NEVER mentioned that they had a baby. However, when Harry sees Remus in the scene with him, Lily, James, and Sirius, Remus mentions, "My son will know what his parents died for. And one day he will understand that." Also, Teddy Lupin didn't show up in the epilogue either, so that kinda bothered me too.

That's really my only complaint though, and overall the movie was great.

Also Emma Watson was smokin' when the polyjuice wore off and it was her wearing Bellatrix clothes. Just sayin'.

also i'm pretty sure part of my childhood really hurts right now. stupid childhood

Sounds great, Panfan. The movie, not the retarded people. I'm very, very excited to see it now--especially that Emma Watson part.

Spoilers

Naw, man. Lord Vanderbilt shows up at Hogwart's School for Gifted Youngsters, and Neo busts out his claws and is all, "I don't think so, bub." Like, he knows it's a losing battle, but he charges in anyway, knowing his death will buy enough time for Harry, Frodo, Short Round and Bumblebee to escape. I wept at the nobility of his sacrifice.

I saw it twice. I was glad that the crowd the second time showed more reaction than the first time I saw it. It made the movie much more enjoyable, haha.

Spoiler Below
I really wasn't that impressed by Emma Watson in Bellatrix clothes, but maybe that's just me...

^ Maybe it was just the very idea of Emma Watson being mixed with Helena Bonham Carter...

Saw it. Loved it (save for a couple moments near the end).
Spoiler Below
As excellent as it was to give Voldy & Harry their only fair fight ever, & as awesome as that fight was, there were two things that bugged me:
1) Everyone saw Harry leap from Hagrid's arms & start running.
2) No one saw Voldemort die.
Those two situations should have been reversed: the former because it makes for a more dramatic reveal, & the latter because it's important that the man who was so scared of death that he intentionally ripped apart his own soul to be immortal & who was too proud to accept his enemy's offer of mercy has everyone see him reject that mercy & die because of it.

Panny, a certain camera angle just after the waterfall drew my attention to that highlight you spoke of, & for several minutes afterwards, I kept noticing. It was indeed quite interesting.
