Dio rocks. Holy Diver is another good song... actually, his cd "The Very Beast of Dio" is one of the few I can listen to almost all the way through without going "this song bugs me". So much of it rocks! For ten bucks, too...

25. Hoobastank

They deserve to be on here, just because "The Reason" is such a cool song.
Favorite song: "The Reason"

24. Outkast

While I'm not a big fan of rap, I'll admit that Outkast's got some okay music.

Favorite Song: "Hey Ya"

23. Bon Jovi

They've got some great songs, and they're one of the few 80s bands that's still around. There's better bands, but they're still great.

Favorite Song: "Wanted Dead or Alive"

22. Alice Cooper

Not much to say here... I don't buy albums (unless I feel like it ), I just listen to all the music on my computer, which my dad downloads... and Alice Cooper's great.

Favorite Song: "Welcome to my Nightmare"

21. ZZ Top

They're another good band... not much to say here. Most of these lower-ranked ones on here I don't like THAT much... I just know them, and like some of their songs.

Favorite Song: "La Grange"

20. Weird Al Yankovic

I would've put him higher, because his songs are usually funny, but I just don't like him THAT much.

Favorite Song: ******* Son

19. Iron Maiden

I don't really know too much about Iron Maiden, but they've got pretty good songs... so yeah.

Favorite Song: Hallowed Be Thy Name

18. Eminem

Aah, don't stone me! He's really not all that bad... I used to think he sucked, but some of his songs are good.

Favorite Song: "Lose Yourself"

17. Eric Clapton

Eric Clapton's just a classic... he's a great singer, a great guitar player, and with about a million albums out this year alone, he's worth the inflated prices.

Favorite Song: "Cocaine"

16. The Village People

Man, again, it just doesn't GET better. These guys released quite a few good songs... Macho Man, In the Navy, YMCA... they deserve a spot on here.

Favorite Song: "Macho Man"

15. Megadeth

Megadeth's another great group... note the Death. They've got some great, classic songs... a great group.

Favorite Song: "In My Darkest Hour"

14. AD-DC

"I've got big balls... I've got big balls..."

Favorite Song: "Back In Black"

13. U2

U2's music just rocks... no explanation needed.

Favorite Song: "Beautiful Day"

12. Van Halen

Van Halen is just one of the best music groups ever... and yes, they're only number 12. It gets better... but not much.

Favorite Song: "Running With the Devil"

11. Velvet Revolver

A relatively new band, they've got some great songs written and performed by some great people.

Favorite Song: "Slither"

10. Linkin Park

Linkin Park's a great group, with some great songs. No more needed.

Favorite Song: "Numb"

9. Pink Floyd.

Five words: "Dark Side of the Moon". That's all that's needed.

Favorite Song: "Time"

8. Queen

Queen's a classic group with some amazing, amazing, amazing songs... again, it doesn't get too much better.

Favorite Song: "Bohemian Rhapsody"

7. Kiss

Kiss is one of the greatest rock groups of all time, and one of the few good groups still around today. It just doesn't get much better.

Favorite Songs: "God Gave Rock and Roll To You", "Detroit Rock City", "Dr. Love"... there's more but I don't wanna post too many

6. Red Hot Chili Peppers

Another group that just astonishes me every time I listen to one of their songs.

Favorite Songs: "Otherside", "Californication"

5. Aerosmith

AEROSMITH!!!!! One of the best groups, period, ever. Shut up. Insult them and die.

Favorite Songs: "Walk This Way", "Love in an Elevator"

4. Yes

Maybe you haven't heard of them... but Yes is one of the best musical groups ever. With songs that actually mean something, they don't just try to get publicity... they actually write good songs.

Favorite Songs: "Homeworld", "Heart of the Sunrise"

3. The Beatles

It's the BEATLES, man!!! They freakin' invented Rock and Roll, how can they NOT be on here?

Favorite Songs: "The Long and Winding Road", "Yesterday", "Eleanor Rigby"... the list goes on.

2. Metallica

Metallica is THE metal group. They've gotta be one of the best groups ever... it's impossible to say otherwise.

Favorite Songs: "Unforgiven", "Unforgiven II", "Sad but True", "Wolf and Man", "Master of Puppets", "Enter Sandman"... I'll stop now, though I COULD go on... "Blitzkrieg"...

Aaaand finally...

1. Led Zeppelin

Do I really have to say anything? Led Zeppelin is the best group of all time. Period. End of discussion. Now go buy a freakin' CD. Or two. Or ten.

Favorite Songs: "Stairway to Heaven", "Battle of Evermore", "Immigrant Song", "The Song Remains The Same", "D'yer Mak'er", "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp", "Moby **** ", "Misty Mountain Hop", "Kashmir"... yeah. I'll just list the songs I DON'T like instead:
haha this guy is the definition of poser. look at all his fav zepp tracks. they are all the clichéd ones that are on every best of album out there. great one dork. how about buying their records instead of just listening to whats on a best of album like it makes you a real fan fag.

and are you ****ing stupid Yes is probably one of the biggest bands around today. i believe them to beone of the highest selling prog groups of the 70s and they have like 2 number 1 singles or something you ****ing idiot

do you honestly know what you're talking about

most of your fav bands are clichéd boring classic metal bands like Aerosmith

haha aerosmith

great band

1 good album

the rest all commercial trash

yeah they are rock gods for sure

also ****ING LINKIN PARK? WHAT THE ****? Linkin Park is the worst band ever. Listen to their albums dude, all the songs are the same.. bit of drumming at the start for a couple of bars, then a simple keyboard riff, then bring in the big fizzing guitars while that japanes fag or whatever raps over the top of it.

they are the definition of formula mass-produced music and anyone who listens to their music is a ****ing idiot

their music isn't composed, it is put together by producers following a formula for instant commercial appeal

how can you like music like that

you people are dumb

I don't think I listen to 25 different bands. I'll just do the top 5 then.

5. Offspring
"Have you ever"

4. Thrice
"Artist in the Ambulance"

3. System of a Down
"Forest", "Inner Vision"

2. Green Day
"Welcome to Paradise", "Nice Guys Finish Last"

1. Metallica
"The Wait", "Battery", "One", "Enter Sandman", "Motorbreath", "Four Horsemen", etc, etc, etc. Just about every song they made.

Since you guys were having a pretty heated argument there, and I like arguing for no particular reason, I'll throw my own 2 cents in...

Every single song may be underrated, just as everysong has the ability to be overrated. People might be looking for a new sort of sound, and you might not like their new sound. So what? It's your taste, and you're the only person that controls it. The same can be said of everyone else. Your saying 'OMG that group is so GAY' is only going to make you look like an ass.. And, unless that is your goal, I suggest you lay off the patrons of different genres. A person could argue endlessly about their own opinion, but their argument can be based solely upon their own limitations. One notion that I can scoff at is how one person could write off the capabilities of an entire genre's lyricists. The same goes for the musicianship and skills of artists classified by genre... There are three factors in all music that come together to form a song: Change, Complication, and Presentation. No one cares about your awesome guitar solos if you can't work them into a usable song structure. Some people hate solos. Some people are in awe of them. Structure is how all of the factors of a song are brought together. Structure is where your taste matters, because you might not want one type of focus in your music.

My new list:

1. D'Angelo
2. Artists who I like that aren't D'Angelo.
3. Artists I don't like.
4. Artists whom I despise.
5. That guy who writes songs for Britney Spears.

Actually, 3, 4, and 5 aren't awesome at all.
