I know this is a more underground type of music that many of you probably dismiss or hate, but I'm sure there must be a few people who enjoy it. Even if you've only listened to the commercialized, "cheesy" trance albums that are commonly found in Best Buy or Wherehouse, if you like 'em, post 'em. My favorite genres of EDM are: House Trance Techno Progressive Trance Progressive House Break beats Progressive Breaks Hard Dance NRG Hard Style Jungle Uplifting/Hard/Epic Trance Ambient Favorite Artists/DJ's Are Leama and Moor Michael Burns Gabriel & Dresden Above and Beyond Hyper Solid Globe Probspot Ozgur Can D:Fuse Luke Chable Way Out West MK-S John O'Callighan Markus Schulz Armin van Buuren Paul van Dyk Solarstone Grayarea Junkie XL Sasha (This guy's a f***in' trip) Smith and Pledger Vadim Zhukov Nathan Fake James Holden Sultan Steve Lawler And there's more to that list, but those are all the ones I can think at the top of my head. Hopefully I'm not wasting my time with the creation of this topic. |

As for artists, some favorites are ATB, Ultrabeat, Niko, Andy Hunter, Naoki Maeda, DJ Speedo, DJ Taka, Dave Rodgers, X-Treme, Sota Fujamori, Mega NRG Man, Scooter, Darude, and DJ Sammy. And Paul Van Dyke was here in San Francisco last Friday. I was going to check him out but I was broke. But I'm currently saving up more to go to a few more raves this month and then check out both Tiesto and Ferry Corsten in SF in late December. New Year's Eve is gonna rock. | |

I'm quite particular to GOA and Psy Trance, some names to list are older Juno Reactor and Infected Mushroom. My general bread and butter is a cocktail combination of electronic, rock, and metal, aka anywhere from MSI to NIN to KMFDM and Pig. A nice pit stop halfway from one end to the other is the self-titled Gravity Kills album. I like me some noize in the vein of a friend's friend who goes by the name of Entron. I used to be up on local DJs who were pioneering Funky Breaks a few years back. I take what I can listen to, cares about definitions come after beats (if you follow). I can't forget D&B, either. Techstep I like as a genre, while specific artists are a little harder to come by. I'll say Diesel Boy, although he's not of that particular minute classification. Hardcore is all well and good, and so is Rave, but I'm not nearly as familiar with them. My best experience with Hardcore is a local dj to Cle, goes by the name of Kid Napalm. One thing that I hate are the diva vox people keep tossing all over the place lately. I'm not into that R&B ****e. Oh, and to mention someone who simply defies classification.. OhGr .. and as I continue rambling on the subject, Intelligent is a pretty sweet genre. Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, and Autechre are favorites... I can't think of anymore ****e, so I'll say that's about it. ![]() |
