I'm just wondering how musically involved everyone here is. I've been playing clarinet for 5 years, guitar for 3, harmonica for about 3 months, and I've just started on tenor sax. I also dabble with the piano whenever I have access to one.

I used to play the saxophone, but I really lost interest in it. I can still play it, but not that good anymore.

Mainly the Baritone. I should try practicing my guitar a bit more, though x_x. I've also played Trumpet and Trombone (Trumpet switched to Baritone, Trombone for 8th grade Jazz band).

Guitar, Ive been going for more than five years but my skill level seems to have hit a plateau. Doesnt bother me that much though cos I can play most stuff and can bust a pretty decent solo when the oppertunity arises.

I wouldnt mind being able to thrash out a super fast solo though, but Im not gonna sit and do scales for five hours every day just for that.

Heheh, I do that all the time, too. Especially air-bass guitar.

I also like to sing along when I'm listening to music, but I know I'm not a very good singer.

I just started playing with the guitar around October last year, so i'm not that good yet.

I've discovered that I need an electric guitar, though. Playing metal just doesn't sound good on an acoustic.

I've been playing clarinet... Let's see... *counts on her fingers* Ah, for almost 7 years. I'd say I'm pretty decent, but I'm nowhere near the skill level I want to be at. But, I did just got my first private lesson teacher ever three weeks ago, so hopefully I'll be getting a bit closer. =) And if I could, I'd play almost anything I could get my hands on. I just don't know how. ^_^;;

I'd recommend sticking with the acoustic for a while before moving on to electric. Anything that you can do on acoustic you can easily do on electric, but the inverse is not always true. You should keep at the acoustic until you're fairly comfortable and you have the basic guitar technique down, and then get an electric. Even when you do get an electric, you should never stop playing acoustic.

I kind of have a split personality. On guitar I can jam really well but am a pretty mediocre music reader (although I actually can read music, unlike so many guitarists), and on clarinet I'm an excellent music reader but have no concept of improvisation. I'm gonna spend a lot of time working on music this summer.
