And I really can't fathom how Queen made it onto a metal list. ~Dylan And Back In Black should've been #1...

They have alot of good albums in the first part of the list, but I don't agree with metallica getting the first album. IT is NOT the best metal album in history. Metallica did not even do that much for metal. They are good, but not that good. If anything, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest should have that number one slot, or even Slayer. Metallica did not innovate many styles, and what they did help (not create) was thrash metal. And even that, the thrash style that they played was influenced greatly by Dave Mustaine, who later formed Megadeth. After Mustaine left, they wern't a significant thrash presence anymore. Metallica should atleast be somewhere from 10 back. (And speaking of megadeth, if anyone is worth their salt in metal, they know megadeth's best album was "Rust in Peace" whether they like the band or not...This list does not even include that album, which was way more influencial then "killing is my business") But the end of the list, is pure crap. hahaha...Those people have no idea what metal is...putting Marylin Manson up there. Everyone assumes Satanist means Metal. and how linkin park's hybrid theory is considered better then queensryche's empire is beyond me. Queensryche along with dream theater took prog rock to the next level and introduced prog to the metal scene They started a freakin new genre of metal for cryin out loud(and empire is a good album in my oppinion also). Linkin park didn't really innovate anything new in the direction of metal...their music barely uses guitars, metal has to rely on the guitar, or its not metal. They are some form of alternative rock. Now, don't get me wrong, I am not dissin these bands. They are good in their own way. But this is a metal list. The people who made this list do not know what the hell metal is. Thats why I got a problem with it. [ July 08, 2005, 11:19 PM: Message edited by: Rock God ] |

So even though I would not classify Queen as metal, I can understand why they put their first album on there.
