My father owned one of their best of albums and we would often listen to that, especially during summer holiday, so I have very fond memories. Recently I rediscovered this band with the release of their anthology album Retrospectacle. It contains all their hits and some lesser known songs in chronological order. Soon after I got that I also got a DVD with live performances and videos. Today, I would definitely cite Supertramp as one of my favourite bands. Highlights for me are the albums Crime of the Century with songs like School, Dreamer, Bloody Well Right and Rudy, and Breakfast In America with the hits The Logical Song, Goodbye Stranger, Take The Long Way Home and the title track. Aside from these songs there are a lot of other gems as well, especially in the period 1974 - 1985. Roger Hodgson one of the writers and lead singers (he has the high pitched voice heard in songs like Dreamer and The Logical Song) left the band in 1982 to go solo. The other writer and lead singer (he sings lead vocals on songs like Goodbye Stranger and Bloody Well Right) continued with Supertramp, but I think only the first album after Hodgsons departure is up to the Supertramp standard. Next week we’ll have a suggestion from L007. Could you PM me the info I need? It saves me some time googling or wikiing it. |

Although I only know four of their songs: -Take the Long Way Home -The Logical Song -Breakfast in America -Goodbye Stranger Although that's probably more than most people know. Supertramp is one of the lesser known bands. -CSM |

Over here, virtually everyone knows the name and can name one or two songs. Supertramp is the type of band that can be at the top of the single and album charts, but still the members can walk the street withou being recognised. The songs you mentioned are all from their most succesful album Breakfast in America. Goodbye Stranger is probably my favourite song by them. That one or School. I could say that Goodbye Stranger is my favourite Davies song and School my favourite Hodgson song. |

Long Way Home is my favorite of theirs. I didn't think Goodbye Stranger was from Breakfast in Amreica, but hey, so it is. Great song, by the way. -CSM |

| I can't remember the last time I heard Supertramp... perhaps at some party (on a jukebox)... I always liked their music... the few songs that I actually know. ![]() | |
