Do you like them, and if so what are your favourites? I’m not talking about musical theater alone, but also about movies. I usually enjoy musicals. I’ll give you a few of my favourite examples. The Phantom of the Opera The only musical I actually saw a stage performance of (in Dutch). My parents had visited it and got a CD with the highlights, which me and my brothers grew very fond of, so my parents took us to the show. I really enjoyed it, and I think the music was great. I also recently saw the 2004 film adaptation, which was brilliantly done in my opinion. Some of my favourite songs are Angel of Music, Phantom of the Opera and Music of the Night. Jesus Christ Superstar Another Lloyd Webber musical, but I have only seen the film version of this one. My father also owns the soundtrack of the film on vinyl. My favourite songs are the title track and I Don’t Know How To Love Him. Moulin Rouge! I recently saw this one when I read what kind of movie this was. I knew it was a musical, but I didn’t know they took classic pop and rock songs and adapted them for a new story. I really liked how they used Your Song, Roxanne and especially The Show Must Go On. I also really liked the love song medley. Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas I absolutely love this movie. Not because it has an amazing story, but because it has a wonderful score and many beautiful songs by Danny Elfman. I’ve watched this film many times just to hear the score (I should probably get the soundtrack), and I love every song. My favourite is probably the opening song. South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut This may not fit in with the others I posted so far, but I think that beyond a hilarious movie it’s also a great musical. The songs are not only funny lyrically, but at times also very beautiful musically like Up There and the Resistance Medley. I think South Park in general often has brilliant songs Team America: World Police Similar to the South Park movie, although I though this one wasn’t as good musically. Still there are some great songs (especially lyrically) like America **** Yeah, and I’m So Ronery. And have you ever paid attention to the lyrics of Montage? They’re so spot on. It’s my favourite song of the movie. Ok that’s enough superlatives for one post. Let’s hear some of your favourites. |

I like musicals when the actors sing in character (dear Lord, I can't stand declarative musical actors), the songs are well-written, and the script is good. Of late, I've been particularly fond of: Avenue Q, Wicked, & Once More with Feeling. And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!" |

. But it's used wonderfully in Team America as well.I'm also pretty curious about the We Will Rock You musical. I probably won't see it, as it's too expensive, but maybe they'll release a DVD sometime.

Although my favourite line has to be "Britney Spears Died for us." Class. Also South Park Movie, is top notch. As is World Police.

| Timelord. | I meant all of the songs in the Queen musical. Whne they are sung, they actually have something to do with what is going on. That line which I said is just a part of the story. |

I liked 'This is Halloween' from the Nightmare before Christmas. I really love the musicals where the characters burst into song for NO APPARENT REASON. Not like Moulin Rouge or Chicago where the premise is stage related, but when they are doing a totally unrelated activity and suddenly start singing. And it's even better when nobody reacts! Like it's so normal for this person to be singing at the top of their lungs while standing on top of your car. We're putting on the Sound of Music at my school. I wanted to do Moulin Rouge, but my friend is being Maria so good luck to her. |

Many years! I'm also curious about We Will Rock You. The site barely gives any information about the plot, just saying it's a time of Gaga (Radio Gaga) and uniform, how the Bohemians (Bohemian Rhapsody) will find the axe of the hairy one or whoever the heck it is, if Galileo (Bad name alert!) is caught, he'll be brought to the Killer Queen (Killer Queen) and sent to obliteration across the dreaded Seven Seas of Rhye (Do I need to type the song title again?) I've seen the soundtrack or whatever it is several times. Looks like another Greatest Hits, for some reason. They don't tell you anything on CDs anymore. ;_; |

I think there's a Scaramouche and a Khashoggi as well. Nomyt, did they change the lyrics to fit it in the story (like they did with Mama Mia, that Abba musical) or did they keep the original lyrics? I also really liked Chicago, btw. More than I expected I would. |

Galileo is the Hero or the Story, Scaramouche is the Heroine. Command Khashoggi is a bad guy, as well as the Killer Queen. The Bohemians are a group of Good guys (that take names of artists of now a days, Cliff Richard, Charlotte Church, and Brittany Spears.) The only song in which they changed a few words is Radio Gaga. They changed Radio Gaga to Internet Gaga; but I guessed that they had to, since it's based in the future

I think they could've picked better names for the future's artists, though. They wouldn't even have to be real artists. I don't think Britney Spears will survive very long musically, and Cliff Richard isn't exactly nowadays. |

Galileo calls himself, Galileo after he has a dream. In his dreams he says that he speaks a load of strange words. Some girl that he meets, who isn't like everyone else, decides to follow him, and she asks him for a cool name like his. So he calls her Scaramouche. You have to really go and see it to get what I'm going on about....
