Angry Copy Protected CDs suck

What good is having an iPod if you can't import songs from the CD for it?

Correction, I WAS able to import songs from the CD, but only in WMV format, which is not compatible with iPod.

Get Windows MP3 Converter. It converts WAV and WMV files to MP3.

But that does suck

Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe iTunes can import music from WMP. The quality might be a smidge-bit sketchy, though.

How do I convert songs from my CDs to MP3s? I'm just curious.

And yes, copy-protected CDs do suck. Unless, however, the recording artist is freelance. I don't care if it's copyright infrengement. If you sell out, you deserve it. -CSM

You think I didn't try that? The importing software on the CD secures the files so they CAN'T be converted.

Well, iTunes has a simple "Import" button. It can save songs in AAC (the defult format designed for the iPod), AIFF, Apple Lossless, MP3, or WAV formats

I'm pretty sure everyone agrees that copy protection sucks. Those government lobbyests also suck.

Actually the new form of copy protection (the one that's annoying me) doesn't even play the CD when you put in the computer. It just plays WMV files of the songs on the CD (I found that out while looks in the CD directory).

Peh. They can prevent you from enjoying your music, but they can't stop people from ripping it. You can never cover up the A-hole.

Music was a product now it is a service/
Major record labels why are you trying to hurt us?/
Epic’s up in my face like, “Don’t steal our songs Lars,”/
While Sony sells the burners that are burning CD-R’s/
So Warner, EMI, hear me clearly/
Universal Music, update your circuitry/
They sue little kids downloading hit songs/
They think that makes sense/
When they know that it’s wrong!/

Their finger’s in the dam but the crack keeps on growing/
Can’t sell bottled water when it’s freely flowing/
Record sales slipping, down 8 percent/
Increased download sales, you can't prevent/
Did you know in ten years labels won't exist?
Goodbye DVD’s, and compact disks!/

You know, we just wanted a level playing field.
You’ve overcharged us for music for years, and now we’re
Just trying to find a fair balance. I hate to say it, but…
Welcome to the future.

^^^Yeah, Lars rules & all, but one thing I really don't want to see is the death of albums, and switching to an all-download music industry is the first and biggest step in that direction.

Speaking of the lameness of copy-protection, it was profoundly irritating not to be able to put "Couch Potato" on a rap disc I was making for a friend. E tu, Al?

This has nothing to do with copy protection or anything, but my damn computer doesn't even play half my CD's, therefore making it even more impossible to put them on my iPod. I know they're not copy protected because they work on my Windows 98 computer, which unfortunately, does not work with iTunes or iPods. Does anyone have any anwsers for this one?

^Are they enhanced CDs? I can't play The Beginning Stages of The Polyphonic Spree on my awesome PC at home because the autorun enhancement file is incompatible, but it works on my slightly outdated laptop.
