| Song of the Week: Not Like The Other Girls :D If you see me posting in "What are you listening to?", you'd have noted that I love this song!! Truly though, it took me the entire week to finalise my choice. I was torn between this, a Ginuwine song, and also The White Stripes song I love!! They'll come another time, then, I guess. XD Not like the other girls By: The Rasmus Written by: Lauri Ylonen From the Album: Dead Letters (2003) Length: 5:44 Lyrics No more blame I am destined to keep you sane Gotta rescue the flame Gotta rescue the flame in your heart No more blood, I will be there for you my love I will stand by your side The world has forsaken my girl I should have seen it would be this way I should have known from the start what she's up to When you have loved and you've lost someone You know what it feels like to lose She's fading away Away from this world Drifting like a feather She's not like the other girls She lives in the clouds And talks to the birds Hopeless little one She's not like the other girls I know No more shame, she has felt too much pain, in her life In her mind she's repeating the words All the love you put out will return to you I should have seen it would be this way I should have known from the start what she's up to When you have loved and you've lost someone close to you You know what it feels like to lose She's fading away Away from this world Drifting like a feather She's not like the other girls She lives in the clouds And talks to the birds Hopeless little one She's not like the other girls I know She's fading away Away from this world Drifting like a feather She's not like the other girls She lives in the clouds And talks to the birds Hopeless little one She's not like the other girls I know Please excuse my lack of a link, youtube never loads for me. :/ Official reason behind song: "Not Like The Other Girls -It's about my friend, whose life I've been looking at aside. A girl, who has experienced much losing, but who can still live normally. It just seems like there are too many dark clouds over the girl's head." - Lauri. (Interview Jan 2003) My reason for liking it: I connect with the words... there’s something about me that needs to know what the lyrics are to songs. I can't fully enjoy a song unless I can make out the lyrics without guessing at them... tis my quirk. ![]() The melody and beat in this song rock!!! All meshes together to make this easy-listening and I can readily listen to this song on loop for hours at a time!!! If you want to listen to this song, please give me your e-mail address. (Thanks, Koga, for this opportunity... has been fun putting it together!!) ![]() | |

| Veteran Member Join Date: Sep 2000 Location: The Netherlands Gender: Posts: 17,093 Thanks: 104 Thanked 176 Times in 118 Posts | I thought you would choose a song by The Rasmus I just downloaded and listened to it, and it's a very nice song indeed. I'm normally not one to listen for the lyrics the first time (or the first couple of times) I listen to a song, and I can still enjoy it (Probably because English is still not my native language). I did read along with the lyrics when first listening to this one, and they are very poignant. I especially like the subtle difference in the line 'when you have loved and lost someone close to you' when it's sung for the second time. I'm actually downloading a couple of other Rasmus songs to see if I know any of them. I already listened to and recognised In The Shadows, and I'm listening to Guilty at the moment. |

| AWESOME!!! Thanks!!! I am quite delighted you liked it!!! I enjoy most of the songs on their album!! Without a doubt, Last Waltz is still my favourite by this group. And, Guilty is a song I truly enjoy singing out loud to... just when I don't have an audience!!! ![]() | |
