As for Snap Music, it's different, and it's something new, it's something easy that everyone can do, and it's selling. __________________ |

Honestly, that song is pretty original compared to a lot of the stuff thats out today. I've heard rehashed nursery rhymes in rock songs too, so I wouldnt knock the song just because of that. The song itself is annoying and shows no lyrical promise(Which in my opinion is the most important part of a hip hop track), however, it does have a nice flow, and the song is addicting.

).I just think the song is unbelieveably annoying. Plus, I thought this whole "bling bling" think died off a years ago. It'll be a sad day when ignorant kids of the future look back on "Chain Hang Low" and "Bling Bling" as important pieces of hip hop history. It's bad enough that we give a pass to rappers who continue to rap about pimping, selling drugs, and the glorification of black-on-black violence without showing the consequences of these actions simply because they're able to put it a clever way. Believe my, I'm as guilty as anyone, as I own every Ghostface Killah and T.I. album. Whatever happened to the Ice Cube's, Ice-T's, the KRS One's, the Public Enemy's, the Tribes known simply as "Quest?" I'll tell you what happened: much of the pro-black music doesn't appeal to most white people, who became the number one consumers of rap music, either because it scares them or they just can't relate to it. People got too caught up in being gangsta during the 90's. Gangsta rap isn't even the same as it used to be. I guarantee, if Dr. Dre were recording The Chronic today, "The Day the N#!$!z Took Over" would not make the final cut of the album. It's ironic that so many rappers talk about being like 2Pac, and how he's their favorite rapper, yet they have absolutely no clue what 2Pac stood for. It's like... have you even heard "Holla if you Hear Me?" Have you heard "Keep Ya Head Up?" "Me Against the World?" "Brenda's Got a Baby?" Have you even heard "Changes" for heaven's sake??? The same people who show respect to 2Pac will totally clown a rapper who tries to make a song like those!! Look at how much respect Little Brother gets from mainstream audiences... just sad, just sad. Last edited by Bomby; 09-20-2006 at 02:48 PM.

What makes them standout from most (their old stuff mainly), is that they find a clever way to paint stories and pictures from what they've done. I don't have too much GFK stuff, but I can tell you that TIP talks about his old life while trying to put in people's heads that it's not the best or right thing to do. __________________ |

| Song 2 : Whoo Hoo | ^ Good point, how could I forget songs like "Be Better than Me?" T.I.'s not the best example... 50 Cent, there's a good example. Nothing positive about that dude at all, really. |

And though I sort of agree with what Malik said, I think it could have been said differently.

| Song 2 : Whoo Hoo | Power of the Dollar was good, Get Rich or Die Trying was good, Massacre sucked. But that doesn't mean the the music has positive messages. There, I edited it. Better? |

Personally, I judt don't care about rap music. I'm just not interested in it. |

That'd be better. Rap died down when the source of the money changed hands. When suburban ears caught wind of the music, and began to get interested, the power of the purchase shifted to their hands, and in order to make money, a majority of artists leaned towards what the masses wanted to hear. You can't blame them though, they can love to make music and get money at the same time, eventually, you notice which was the greater objective to them. That seems to be the course they went. There are few who keep their original styles, in other words, they don't adjust to the mainstream to get popular/money who achieve success. __________________ |
