A Quick Question

Maybe I should have made a poll, but what kind of music do you listen to?

I will start out, most of my music is Alternative Rock, Techno, Trance, and Metal.

Er...I thought you hated Metal.

I hate all music, especially Country, Metal, and Gangsta' Rap.

The exceptions would be older VideoGame music (Sonic, Final Fantasy) and some japanese pop.

Genres are for pussies. I listen to anything that sounds good.

However, I do have a particular liking toward hip hop, old school soul, flamenco, and funk.

Same, except my preferences are Rap, R&B and Old School Soul/R&B

"I like both kinds." ~Sting, if I recall correctly.

I can listen to anything that isn't just painfully awful. (For the record, drum synths are almost always painfully awful. If you don't want to hire a real drummer, at least make the effort of recording a tape loop.)
My favorite stuff, however, is rock & roll. Goofball rock, classic rock, country rock...you name it, I can name someone I like in it.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

From punk to metal to some acoustic. Underoath and Emery are good bands. Pretty much anything that I can rock out to.

I like many genres as well, but it's mainly (classic) rock. Anything from progressive rock to folk rock to hard rock to pop rock.

Almost everything, haven't come across much R&B I like though. Can't stand much Drum and Bass or Jungle either.

Favorites are Ska, Happy Hardcore, Hardstyle, Eurobeat, Hard House and good ol' Rock (anything from Metal to today's "powerpop" or whatever you call it).

Hmm, well, I do like some Japanese rock, and I listen to pretty much ANYTHING else with good music. (I never listen to lyrics.) I guess if Video Games count, my favorite music most definately comes from the PS era Final Fantasy games. Yes, especially FF9. Flog me if you wish.

I'm also guilty of listening to a little bit of metal, although I only like the lighter side of it. (Liquid metal = Phail) And I also like some classic rock. for me, its all over the place.

HOWEVER, I have an unwavering hatred for Rap. Especially Gangsta Rap. I seriously cannot stand ANYTHING with such repetitive melodies and horrible beats.

Even other rappers agree with that part of what you said.

Never have I found someone who shares my love of FFIX.

But really, who doesn't love Dark Messenger?

I do believe this topic is for what music you like, not what music you dislike.

Anyways, anyone goes so far as to write off an entire genre of music, whether it be country, rock, rap, techno, or mariachi, can't be taken seriously on the topic of music. There's good and bad in each genre. You don't have to like it, but please, respect it.

Funny that just as I was posting this I heard somebody on the TV say they didn't like rap at all. But like Malik said, I dont really care for country much. I don't try to get into it all that much either, but I completely respect what they do and what they feel. Rap like I've said before has the most complex lyrics of any other genre of music probably, and that's one of the reasons I like it so much, and part of the ways I know it takes so much true talent(I do it myself.) But all music has the good and the bad, pretty much like everything in this world.

As I've said before the focus on lyrics is what I dislike about rap. Sure, the songs have good lyrics, but more often than not they're not very interesting musically.

Happy Hardcore
I didn't know anyone in the US listened to that. It was huge in the Netherlands in the mid 90s and I listened to it a lot back then. What artists do you listen to in this genre?

I'm also growin increasingly pissed with all the rappers bitching about hip-hop dying.

No one killed hip-hop, they just neglected it. Rap has become a subgenre of the music, in no way is it killing hip hop, it's for entertainment, and that's what's entertaining people. If people are so worried about hip-hop dying, then maybe they need to attempt to bring it back? Maybe they need to make a better marketing strategy to get it back out there. I know that all the other stuff is what's maknig money, and it's easier to get out there, but there are people who listen to hip-hop and whatnot, so start marketing to em and stop bitchin about everyone else.

Whatever happened to forerunner of all that, the Blues? The only place it seems that it is still played is in small time bars and AM radio stations.

Only video game music. I also hate anything that has vocals in it; the human voice just reeks of... humanity. And music may be a means of expression, but it's not good when the sound takes a hit for a message. Voices are just... blegh...

UnderOath Rocks, but there Christian Screemo... Weird... yes I know....

I prefer mostly classic rock, alternative, punk, some metal(SlipKnot, SoaD, bands like that), Screemo, and some emo(The Academy Is..., TRJA, ect). and of course AFI!!!

My most hated Genres are Country, R&B, and most Hip Hop.

Every time I have to listen to Country music I want to kill myself... because I cant stand it... Im sorry, I've tried to give it a chance before, but you know what? I really dont give a damn about how some up tight red necks feels.

R&B, heh I can stand to listen to it, I just never seem to enjoy it....

Hip Hop, can most of the time get on my nerves, but there is some good out there....

Those are my likes and dislikes, even though dislikes are not supposed to be here. I would just rather give an explanation why I dont like it, and I have.

I like all genres. I mostly listen to classic rock from the 60's and 70's and hip hop from the mid-90's.

Would Video Games count? I just think that's a little too stand-off...ish. Unless it a major source, like FF.
