Cibo Matto's Latin Jazz-esque remake of Nirvana's "About a Girl" is genius.

I can only find unplugged, cover, or poor quality videos for either version so we have to rely on you, Bomby to supply us with the videos.

Well here's Nirvana's Unplugged Version, which is just as good as their album version. This is actually my favorite Nirvana song.

Cibo Matto's version, set to someone else's video made from clips from a TV show or something. It starts out lo-fi and converts to hi-fi about 45 seconds into it. That's just how they made the song, and it works quite well.

I prefer depeche mode's cover a little more tbh, but both are good.

and Cibo Matto's cover is indeed brilliant. Cibo Matto overall is an awesome band.

Next Cover, another well known set, Hurt

Original by Nine Inch Nails

Cover by Johnny Cash

Sevendust, Underoath, and a lot of other bands also did covers of it, but those are mostly regurgitations of the NIN version.

I better post the next one as well before I forget the links.

The original Blues version of Black Betty by Huddie William Leadbetter aka Leadbelly.
This was a rather hard to find song.

Along with the slightly more well know version by the Southern rock Group, Ram Jam

Along with the Modern Aussie Incarnation by Spiderbait.

I'll do some:

Love Song

Original by The Cure

Cover by 311

Hush

Original by Deep Purple

Cover by Kula Shaker

Mad World

Original by Tears for Fears

Cover by Gary Jules

Land of Confusion

Original by Genesis

Cover by Disturbed

That's more than enough for now

EDIT: I just realized that, with the exception of Deep Purple/Kula Shaker, these are all covers of 80s songs. Guess that decade is a good source of material.

As such, I'll add one of my favourite 80s covers:

A Little Respect

Original by Erasure

Cover by Wheatus

I'm glad Gary Jules did the cover. I had to turn off the TFF one. *shudder*

^Don't make me smack you. Sure it's not their best, but "I had to turn it off" was uncalled for.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

This is my absolute favourite cover song. The otiginal is a very good song, but the cover takes everything that's good about it and adds a lot more.

Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood by the Animals

YouTube - The Animals - Don't let me be misunderstood

The cover by Santa Esmeralda

YouTube - Santa Esmeralda - Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood

But to really appreciate it, you'll have to listen to the full version that runs over 10 minutes.

^ Awesome choice. One of my favorites as well.

I love The Lightning Seeds' remake of "You Showed Me" by The Turtles even though it is intentionally the same and actually samples the Turtles version. Perhaps it's because it was used in one of my favorite episodes of Daria.

If I'm correct, however, the song was originally done by the Byrds, whose version I've never heard.

You know I had to keep myself from physically harming a person concerning an argument about who did the best version of Knockin' on Heaven's Door? Boy was that something.
