All the other albums each have a really good thing about them that the others fail to provide. Californication has their best mellow songs like "Otherside," "Road Trippin'," "Californication," and "Scar Tissue," One Hot Minute contains some of the most talented guitar work and extensive detail I've ever heard (Dave Navarro rules) with great songs, and Blood Sugar Sex Magik is... it's just Blood Sugar Sex Magik. Just by hearing the title you should all fall to your knees and WORSHIP it. Their older stuff from the 80s and Mother's Milk is also really good, though nobody bothers to listen to it. The Brothers Cup rules. Really, if you asked me which of their albums I prefer, I wouldn't be able to reply. Reel Big Fish - What can I say, no ska band matches them. Great lyrics, great songs, very catchy and really happy even if the lyrics are extremely pessimistic ("You Don't Know," anyone ?). If you're into ska and you don't know them, you should definitely check them out. They just rule. I have yet to find any song by them that I don't like, and I've listened to a LOT of their songs.Other faves: Sublime - I'm all about the ska. Sublime has some amazing songs, like "Santeria" and "Date Rape," and a lot more. Bob Marley & The Wailers - Bob Marley rules. Great for cheering up and listening to. The Eagles - Hotel California owns my soul. Queen - I don't think I need to elaborate. Stereophonics - Good band to chill out to, but they have some other good rock songs, like "Madamme Helga." Jet - So what if they're unoriginal? At least they're good while they do it. "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" rules, even though it's an Iggy Pop rip-off. (old) Michael Jackson - Michael Jackson from the 80s was awesome. "Billie Jean," "Smooth Criminal," "Beat It," and "Black or White," even though that was '91. Need I say more? Rick James - "Ghetto Life" and "Superfreak" are great songs. Pink Floyd - Great to chill out to, the lyrics from "Time" are amazing, as well as its solo and the solo from "Money." These guys prove you don't need to be fast to be a good guitarist. Foo Fighters - Great live band (saw them last year), but in the end not that talented. Altough they come up with some pretty catchy riffs. Dave Grohl is a stage hog X_X. Soundgarden - Pretty underrated band. Everyone hails Nirvana as the great saviors of rock in the early 90s, but I think Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Jane's Addiction, and Red Hot Chili Peppers were the bands that were really worth it back in 92. Pearl Jam - Started off great. Ten and Vs. are great albums. It's a shame to see that they've turned out to be such a dissappointment. Their last album was BORING except for 2 or 3 songs. Styx - It started off with just "Mr. Roboto" as a joke, but I decided to explore them further, and they weren't bad at all. Ska-P (Spanish ska band) - One of the best ska bands around, better than LTJ in my opinion. Political message, too. Not that anybody knows them... Mad Caddies - Great all-round band that don't really commit themselves to any type of music. Ska, reggae, jazz, rock, it's all in here. Less Than Jake - Great ska band, though not the best out there. Van Halen - Amazingly fast guitarist and some good songs, but speed only won't always get you there. Eddy gets boring after a while. Always in the same key. Led Zeppelin - Stairway, Heartbreaker, Black Dog, these guys started heavy music, and Jimmy Page is damn good. Although he gets a bit boring after a while... The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Hell yeah! Hendrix changed the world. Rock as it is today wouldn't exist if it wasn't for him. Plus, it's fun as hell to play "Purple Haze" or "Voodoo Child" on guitar with friends and improvise really fast solos while they play the accompaniment. Listening to "Voodoo Child" makes me long for a wah wah. And "The Wind Cries Mary" and "All Along the Watchtower" receive far too little recognition. Green Day - Some great songs. Everything in International Superhits is really good. That used to be my fav CD. Nirvana - I used to be really into Nirvana, but now... meh. Sure, they changed music in the 90s, but Cobain isn't really that great a guitarist. It's all power chords. Nowadays it takes more than power chords to satisfy me. Jane's Addiction - Once again, Dave Navarro rules. Guns N' Roses - Great songs, like Sweet Child and Paradise City, good soloing by Slash, although, once again, can get boring. I have waaaay too much time on my hands. Oh wait, no, I have to write that damn history essay. Crap . ----------------------------------------------------------------- Quote of the week: "Time is never wasted when you're wasted all the time." - Catherine Zandonella.
