| My name is Stereotype with an A | Dear Rolling Stone: Stop acting like you know something about hip hop. After seeing your list of the 500 Greatest albums, It is clear that you are all either dumbasses or white supremacists, being that you ranked three of Eminem's snorefests over groundbreaking albums by Wu-Tang Clan, LL Cool J, OutKast, EPMD, Nas, and Jay-Z. So here's the solution: Don't make any references toward hip hop anymore. Sincerely, Me [ November 26, 2003, 03:21 PM: Message edited by: Malik Talib Kamal ] |

Coincidentally, I just made a topic about the 500 Greatest Albums Ever without having seen this. Well, I'll leave it open anyway. The other one can be about the list, and this one will be "The Official Rolling Stone suxx0rs topic ." ----------------------------------------------------------------- Quote of the week: "If it weren't for electricity we'd all be watching television by candlelight."- George Gobol. | Guest | See their list of 100 greatest guitarists? Kurt Cobain ranked over friggin' CARLOS SANTANA. CARLOS SANTANA. I don't like Nirvana or Kobain, but I respect the many who do, but come on. Sanata is a friggin' DEMON on guitar! At least Jimi Hendrix is still at the top instead of some lame wanker that never picked up a guitar before 3 years ago. |

I've been playing for a year and I can play just about every one of their songs out there. Cobain didn't really have that much talent, and if he did he certainly didn't go through too much trouble to display it. Jimi Hendrix was a bit of an overrated guitarist. I mean, I love the guy and he's one of my favorite guitarists, but talentwise he wasn't as good as people credit him to be. Santana was probably better, in any case. Of course, Hendrix is still a hell of a lot better than 99% of modern famous guitarists. Hendrix still wouldn't be able to measure up to the likes of Joe Satriani or Steve Hackett (saw Steve Hackett in concert last month - JESUS FRIGGIN CHRIST. Now that's a guitarist). ----------------------------------------------------------------- Quote of the week: "In Russia we only had two TV channels. Channel One was propaganda. ) Hendrix is one of my favorite guitarists, not for actual talent but for the fact that he completely revolutionized music as it was. Along with The Who he practically invented feedback and a whole lot of other sounds. Back then it was all people like Muddy Waters and Elvis and The Beatles too, and then Jimi Hendrix came in with a completely different style and changed everything. Rock as it is today wouldn't be the same if it weren't for Hendrix and The Who.I know about Electric Ladyland. "All Along the Watchtower" and "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" are probably my two favorite Hendrix songs. The wah wah on Voodoo Child (SL) kicks ass. That song's amazing on the Jimi Hendrix Live at Woodstock CD, which I have. Don't think I don't know much about Hendrix. I've got his biography and all. I was merely saying that he wasn't as skillful as many people think he was. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Quote of the week: "The draft is white people sending black people to fight yellow people to protect the country they stole from red people." - James Rado.
