The Hole

Ever wake up
With a gaping hole inside of you
Shallow desires won't burn out the fires
That burn bright and blue

Ever wake up feeling lost and confused
Still there's nothing to guide you
Through paths unused

Ever feel there's something more
But it's just beyond your reach
The hole drains you like a leech

Ever realize despite what you surmise
Things just seem to lack any significance
Ever felt faded, happiness keeping you sedated
Locked in a materalistic prison
The truth has risen

Deep inside this hole lies a message from your soul
Brain tells you you're insane
You're deranged if you don't want to be
Happiness resides in a golden chest of lies

Through your mind you remain blind
To all that really is

And as your soul with its decency warns you of your deficiency
Just gets pushed aside
When you turn on the TV
