This will probably be an impossible request to fulfil, but whatever, I'll try the fine minds of VGF to assist my search. I am looking for a band or CD in the style of Symphonic Metal, but not in the typical Symphonic Metal standards. I want to know if there's a kind of music that's just like "Oculus ex Inferni" by Symphony X or the intro to "Solvet Saeclum in fadilla" by Adagio. Just the band and a full orchestra, not some high-pitched wailing singer, or some bellowing incohersable noise that some people actually call singing. Just some nice, instrumental music with the combination of an electric guitar, drums, and an orchestra (a choir would be OK, too). I have long since tried to find a band like that and have yet to do so, so I am asking you guys if you know of a band like that. EDIT: By the way, do not suggest Therion. I tried them already. They fail. Last edited by Ike; 08-09-2007 at 06:06 PM. Reason: Say Therion and I will be upset. |

And I can suggest some female singers that have the symphonic sound. And yes, I agree fully with Therion. They are awful. Anyone care to, I don't know, understand the lyrics? |

You'd best be looking at classical rather than metal. Metal bands frequently only have one lead singer. If you want just two vocalists, maybe three, I might be able to come up with something for you. |

| Muse has strings sometimes, and is epic. Look at album 2 and 3. __________________ Why is it drug addicts and computer afficionados are both called users? -Clifford Stoll | |

Gender: Posts: 5,672 Thanks: 7 Thanked 164 Times in 114 Posts | I've practically given up on my quest for the music I've searched for in my first post, so I am altering guidelines a little bit. Now I am searching for a CD by an orchestra or a symphony that's purely an instrumental album (no singing, no choir, just instruments. There I spelled it out). I'm looking for a CD that sounds something like this and this. Something fast and perhaps a little darker sounding. Of course I'm not looking for those, because I found those, and they are music tracks from a video game that didn't even use a real symphony, but hopefully you catch my drift. Forget the guitars for now. Can someone just please point me in the direction I'm looking for? By the way, if you can't find out how to listen to the songs on those pages, just left click where it says 'click here' near the top of the page. |

I haven't given up looking yet. The only thing I was able to uncover is Yngwie Malmsteen because he apparently is a guitar player who (sometimes) plays with an orchestra without any singers. I'm not sure if you'll like him or not, but that's all I have so far. |

And now, I will refer back to my first post and ask again. I will retract my statement about finding an instrumental band, because that just won't happen. However, I would prefer it if the singer (man or women, I don't care at this point) didn't have an overly operatic voice. The less operatic the better. And NO screaming or growling. And one more thing, I would also like it if the band featured a stellar guitarist as well. That is all I have to add. Let the search begin again. |
