Let us discuss artists, albums, etc. So, I recently started listening more intently to UNKLE's album "Psyence Fiction". DJ Shadow really is a master of unique use of samples, and I'm particularly liking "Nursery Rhyme". This is interesting, because Thom Yorke is on this record, but I prefer this song to his number. I haven't heard any of their post-1998 material, but I heard it kind of started sucking. |

Listen to Endtroducing... at least once before you die. Also, watch his video for Six Days (it was directed by God among men Wong Kar Wai). Of course as far as trip hop goes, I'd mention Massive Attack and Portishead being awesomeness but you all knew that. At least I hope. Bjork doesn't quite fit in, but her music is pretty amazing and kind of along similar lines. Especially "Hunter" and "Human Nature." You also know how awesome Bjork is. Abstract Hip Hop is probably the best way to describe one of my ABSOLUTE ****ING favorite bands, Cibo Matto. Listen to Viva! La Woman or die a terrible death. And he picked some good ones. |

Holy **** why is this the best thing ever done with samples ever why Although, I prefer Psyence Fiction overall. I mean, it might as well be a DJ Shadow album. Lavelle had barely any input, and from what I hear, he only did the short break at the end of Nursery Rhyme. Besides, the sample wizardry is pretty much every bit as good on that album. However, I will admit that not much can beat Stem/Long Stem. I love every second of that song. |
