Math Rock thread

hello new musical phase

So it all started with Battles. Then I listened to some LITE. Then came piglet, Middle 9, Tenebre, Minus the Bear, Auto!Automatic!!, etc.

The technicality in this music is insane. It's like everything I love about Fusion, but with a swordcrotch of destiny. It's that amazing. It's that hyperactive. You need it.

Anyone else like/enjoy/listento/knowabout this genre?

So far I've heard and liked Protest the Hero and Fall of Troy, but they're mathcore bands.

Ah! MATH! I've been wanting to learn about this for a while, right after I learned about Post-Rock. Any suggestions for anything?

I recommend piglet's "Lava Land" EP, LITE's "Phantasia", and for good Math Rock with vocals, I like This Town Needs Guns (what I've heard of "Animals" is ingenious). A lot of people will recommend "Mirrored", by Battles, so check that out if you like a little electronica in your Math. Auto!Automatic!! is spectacular as well.

If you'd like a really mathy jazz band (which is like a mind****), try Middle 9.
