Thumbs up Concerts

We're going to see The Birthday Massacre on Sunday night. I'm feeling so-so about it; venue isn't too great, and I just caught a cold. I'm hoping it will be a blast, though; I like their music plenty.

Anyone been to an awesome concert lately? If you've been to many over the years, which has been your favourite? Anything upcoming that you're really excited about?

Big Day Out (yearly Australian "music festival" dealie) has a pile of interesting people playing, but I'm stoked about The Prodigy, Dropkick Murphys and Serj Tankian (lead singer from System of a Down) playing in '09, so we're totally going to that.

Woo.

I saw No Age with Titus Andronicus and Soft Circle on Monday night. It was spectacular.

The best concert I ever went to was Deerhoof, however. RHCP was good, too, but not quite as spectacular.

Couple years ago I got to see Flogging Molly (opened by Zox and Bedouin Soundclash) at the Rave. Great show.

Haven't been to anything since then.

Tomorrow I'm seeing a bunch of local bands at my radio station's fall concert extravaganza.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Goddammit there's an Rise Against/Alkaline Trio concert on Sunday, but I have no ride other than my parents, and I'm pretty sure my parents don't dig Rise Against and Alkaline Trio.

I'm going to some Beatles tribute thing tomorrow night though.

I don't think a single band she listed was Australian.

Dunno where The Prodigy comes from, but pretty sure they're American or European, Dropkick Murphys comes from Boston, Serj was born in the Middle East I think, and I'm pretty sure SoaD formed in LA. So yeah, wtf tazy i thought you even listened to soad

Also, I hope to make a trip to Chicago for Lollapalooza, and I really hope Radiohead tours and hits up Detroit.

I saw Machine Head, Trivium, Dragonforce, Arch Enemy and Shadows Fall last year

I've seen Korn, Dragonforce, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Slayer, and I'm going to see Slipknot in a few weeks.

^ We saw Slayer/Marilyn Manson co-headline, which was a pretty awesome show.

The only concerts I've seen were for bands I don't even like (Altitude Point, Gloworms, etc.). I've been trying to see an MxPx concert, but there hasn't been one near me yet. There was one in Indianapolis, but I couldn't get tickets in time.
