| Senior Member | *****Cat Dolls Remix of "Jai Ho" orginally by AR Rahman I liked the original song but damn those girls could keep it great and by building upon it they made the song even more beautiful. Listen to their remix in it's entirety and you will most likely agree. The way they can increase their pitch little by little so easily impressed me. |

No 'remix' by the *****cat Dolls is worth anything. If not for the broadness of the term 'music', they might not even be able to be considered such. Maybe I'm being harsh. But seriously, despite my criticisms of pop music, most of it is at least decently structured and written. Not this. Their music is like a strip-tease packaged as a song. They're eye-candy and nothing more. Apologies for the rant, I just feel that PCD are like the poppier female equivalent to, say, Nickelback. Pointless rehashing and repackaging done to earn some quick bucks off of people who buy albums based on a single with a catchy hook.

And in particular, I was attempting to say that the hooks and such are virtually all these songs have going for them; in the PCDs case, they occasionally pull an okay hook out (See, unfortunately, Doncha, which is a really, really lame song but it's catchy) but most of their songs are a mess. There's nothing innovative about it, it's usually good old Verse Chorus Verse (AND SOMETIMES THERE IS A BRIDGE) and nothing beyond, nothing new and sonically pleasant. I can't stand the overproduction, the pointless "Sex Sells" marketing, and the idea that the PCDs even play the music themselves. They're just sort of payed to dance to it. If it weren't for the frequent (possibly lip-synced) live performances, I'd doubt they even sing their stuff. But it's all a matter of opinion, I understand that. I am simply sharing mine. |

| Senior Member | Gotcha. Well it's true most of their songs are messy and disorganized but I think they did a good job here (the point across was to get you up and to dance as in most of their songs). |

I couldn't stand a whole bar of any of their radio material, so I have no idea what the breadth of their work might be like with no desire to find out. Quote:
And btw, any difficult tonal changes apparent in the music are likely in part just auto-tune enhancements.

In fact, the first time I heard their version, I was kind of really pissed that they had the gall to even try and attempt to ruin it. |

They need a ****ton of studio work for their voices to sound somewhat decent, the recordings are played during concerts while they mouth the words, and they don't write any of it. They're just scantily clad women used to get record companies more money. |
