The band is the side project of the drummer from The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. I saw them last night with the Pains and Cymbals Eat Guitars, and they blew both of them away. Though the Pains might have been more fun... these guys... just... wow. This is the best new music I've heard since Merriweather Post Pavilion came out. |

This is a regurgitation of the same music we grew up with. I might be good, but there's nothing new in it. ![]() |

MBV does a lot more alt-tuning stuff, these guys just sound like they're doing E-standard. Sounds a lot like a slower, quieter SDRE to me, though, albeit with digital drums. Or maybe a faster White Town. | ||

It's about the chorus and the reverb and the tremolo and the other countless effects boxes one can attach one's guitar to. It's about vocals that are meant to blend in with the music instead of being really payed attention to. Also, when I saw them live last night, the drums were definitely live... and definitely overpowering. Come to think of it, their sound is much cleaner than My Bloody Valentine. |

And yeah, texture is a big part of music but I tend to pay more attention to the overall vibe it gives me. Most bands are too versatile to be compared, really, so I don't know why I do it anyway. |

And I quite like the vibe I get from them. I would like to point out that the video for the song is ridiculously stupid. Also, I can see the back of my head in this video. Barely.
