I'm looking for some depressing love songs and songs with a theme that is/can be confused with love. And no, a depressing love song (to me) is NOT a song where someone eventually "hooks up" (or stays/tries to stay with successfully) with someone else. If you insist on posting, just... don't ask me why. |

I checked, and each one has a video or two over at YouTube. (No guarantee it's what you're after, of course.) Three Dog Night---'I'd Be So Happy' Temptations---'Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me) Warren Zevon---'Hasten Down the Wind' Sawyer Brown---'All These Years' David Frizzell & Shelly West---'You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma' |

The lyrics confuse me, and it's screwing me up on how to see this song: a love song (ACK!), a hopeless dreamer kinda song (which is OK) or a breakup song (which is one of what I'm looking for). *loads shotgun*

I inferred a tragic subtext from the mournful, dirge-like quality of the music, but I might just be reading too deeply into it. |

'As Long As You're Happy' - Cloud Cult? (a 'lost love' song - I don't know any song I find more depressing than this) 'So Long' - Guster 'Estranged' - Guns N' Roses 'Losing My Religion' - REM (if, somehow, you don't know about this song already) |

It's one of those songs that gives me the shivers when I listen to it, maybe because it reminds me of a stupid love thing I did in high school. It's supposed to be all uplifting and hopeful (maybe?), but it sounds forlorn to me. |

"So long" is going the wrong way for me. Yes, it's a breakup song but the singer is happy about breaking up and, obviously, happy =/= depressed. Not what I'm looking for. "Estranged" is more of a "wish we were but never was" kinda song to me. No, I'm not complaining. In fact, I like it. Yes, I've heard of "losing my religion", and I definitely don't need to look for it. ![]() A song about someone that wants to start a broken relationship over again... Yes, that works. *puts away shotgun* Quote:
... This one really hit me where it hurt. As much as I love it and although it fits with what I'm looking for, I don't know if I'd want to listen to it again... :'( Quote:
Breakup, jealousy and stalking... I like it. :D "Do I Creep you out"... XD High level Stalking. Nice. "She never told me..." I'm not sure why, but I don't think this is what I'm looking for... ![]()

"Thanks That Was Fun" - Barenaked Ladies "Song for the Dumped" - Ben Folds "Smoke" - Ben Folds "Gone" - Ben Folds "Your New Twin Sized Bed" - Death Cab for Cutie "Someday You Will Be Loved" - Death Cab for Cutie "You Could Be Happy" - Snow Patrol "Missed the Boat" - Modest Mouse (kinda. It's relaxing, anyway, and it's got that vibe) "Starting Now" - Ingrid Michaelson "Good Life" - Francis Dunnery "Overkill" - Colin Hay (You could interpret the lyrics in the way you want) There you go.
