I'm looking for some depressing love songs and songs with a theme that is/can be confused with love. And no, a depressing love song (to me) is NOT a song where someone eventually "hooks up" (or stays/tries to stay with successfully) with someone else.

^Yeah, 'I'd Be So Happy' is a weird one. I inferred a tragic subtext from the mournful, dirge-like quality of the music, but I might just be reading too deeply into it.

Wind's Nocturne is one that resonates with me. It's one of those songs that gives me the shivers when I listen to it, maybe because it reminds me of a stupid love thing I did in high school. It's supposed to be all uplifting and hopeful (maybe?), but it sounds forlorn to me.

"As long as you're happy" definitely sounds like a depressing song... by reading the lyrics. Yeesh...
"So long" is going the wrong way for me. Yes, it's a breakup song but the singer is happy about breaking up and, obviously, happy =/= depressed. Not what I'm looking for.
"Estranged" is more of a "wish we were but never was" kinda song to me. No, I'm not complaining. In fact, I like it.
Yes, I've heard of "losing my religion", and I definitely don't need to look for it.

Uplifting and hopeful? I honestly don't think so. Forlorn (after looking the word up <_<) seems like the best one word to describe the song.
... This one really hit me where it hurt. As much as I love it and although it fits with what I'm looking for, I don't know if I'd want to listen to it again... :'(
