Song Obsessions

You know, that ONE song you just can't get enough of, and it has a billion plays? It's in your head, you know the lyrics, you hum/whistle/sing it endlessly...

I've had a few like this, but I just recently downloaded a bunch of 90's songs, and now I can't stop listening to Gypsy Woman by Crystal Waters.

"Mistaken for Strangers" by The National has been on an endless loop in my head since I first heard it. It's the one song I've ever obsessed on (save for Radiohead and Okkervil River's stuff) that I've never gotten tired of and had to stop listening to for a few weeks to like again.

I listen to Quiet Riot---'Cum On Feel The Noize' an awful lot. It's a really, really dumb song, but it's also unbelievably catchy and exuberant. Pretty much the iconic High-Energy Hair-Metal Anthem.

I had "What a Good Boy" by BNL stuck in my head for 3 hours at work today. Normally I can get rid of an ear worm by singing through it, but I don't know the 2nd verse well enough.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Ballad For My Old Man, by the Killigans.

Between homesickness and regret, I listen to this song pretty often.

A few weeks ago, it was "Lust for Life" by Girls.

Lately, it's been "There is a Light that Never Goes Out" and "Ask" by The Smiths. Also, this song, which I unfortunately can't find an mp3 of the version in this video.

I haven't had a real obsession for a while, now. I guess my last one was "Again" by YUI (first opening theme for FMA:B).

I'll look around for it. If you don't mind the awful film sound-editing in it, I can just record the audio off the youtube. I'd suggest ripping the video, and getting the audio from that, but youtube's blocked downloads of it.

EDIT: check you PMs, Bomby

"The End" by the Beatles. It was the last song the band ever did together and features Ringo's only drum solo in the Beatles' career. Heck, I've been listening to the whole "Abbey Road" medley a lot lately. It just flows together so well.

I really dig the different versions of "the Undertaker" by Puscifer.

The single version of the song has a really slick beat, but the album version has a killer refrain.

Too many to list, and too many that would make me sound like a ***** if I posted them on VGF.

Though Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd is a consistent top ranker.

Hmmm... I lied with that last post. I'm really addicted to old Chinese pop music... like, Teresa Teng and Shirley Kwan... well, Shirley Kwan isn't that old but her cover version of Teresa Teng's "Mong Gei Ta" is just so amazing.
