Is there a type of audio equipment that you swear by?

Just curious, since I'm kind of an audiophile. Companies I'm a fan of in particular are Korg, Roland, and Klipsch.

I have a little Edirol midi controller that I never use, but I would if I had anyone to play live with. Beside that, I really dig a lot of Roland and Korg software synths. Hardware-wise, I suppose I'm really stuck buying what I can afford, but I'm mostly cool with that. I don't spend real big, and just try to consider the benefits of what I can work with. Ah, and I used to have a really nice Beringer pre-amp for the mic, but had to get a different one when I moved to Australia (really, the new one's still pretty sweet, but I don't even remember the brand). Then again, I'm pretty sure my little mixer can amp the mic just fine, so it's a non-issue.

Bee tee dubs, if anyone else here's tried recording their own music, I'd love to hear anything that's not gonna blow my speakers.

Honestly, the system mic on my laptop is surprisingly good; I trust it completely. The system speakers are crud, though; they cut the bass out of everything.
