Saul Williams is pretty cool too, if you can class his stuff as rap. A lot of it's more like spoken word/poetry. Then again, I guess same goes for Keith. |

And I need to hear more Tupac and Biggie before I can figure out if I like them or not. And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!" |

| You just freaking blew Joe Biden's mind! Join Date: Jun 2000 Location: WHAT?house Gender: Posts: 19,491 Thanks: 513 Thanked 1,449 Times in 849 Posts Blog Entries: 5 | The amazing thing about Tupac is that he manages to be both really overrated and really underrated at the same time: overrated by those who think he was the second coming of Christ and could do no wrong, underrated by New York snobs who only hear his party-oriented songs and ignore his more meaningful work. Even though the beats sound really dated, I still say that his album Me Against the World is one of the best hip hop albums ever simply for the blunt honesty of his lyrics. Biggie is a bit overrated, but he's still really damn good when he's on point. No matter where, you are always allowed to roll down your windows and put your car stereo on full blast whenever "Hypnotize" comes on. QFT. Especially since their battle back in 2001 makes them forever linked. I've always thought that Nas is the more skilled lyricist, but unbelievably frustrating as an overall artist, complacent to rhyme over too many "meh" or outright bad beats. I would say Jay isn't quite as skilled as a lyricist (though better at freestyles), but he hasn't had as many uneven and disappointing albums as Nas. And never anything as bad as that god-awful Nastradamus. I've always felt an overall kinship with Nas, though, which is why I usually like Nas more than Jay. Also, probably why I'm really hard on Nas when I'm disappointed with him. Last edited by Bomby; 06-22-2010 at 02:21 PM. |

Listened to I Wish My Brother George Was Here and Deltron 3030 today, he's extremely underrated. Also, completely agree with you on U-God, Bomby. |
