If you're a musician who does gigs or shows of any kind, post video or audio or pictures and whatnot. Here's a video of an impromptu performance I did with this awesome local newscaster who happens to know his way around a blues guitar. We had never met, let alone rehearsed, prior to this, so the results are actually kind of a surprise to me. Enjoy! Excuse the audio quality, it was bad to begin with and Youtube made it exponentially worse. thar be moar. More will be uploaded later, but otherwise, yeah. Videos of me playing with one of my actual full-time projects will come as soon as I have 'em. Last edited by Galefore; 08-10-2010 at 02:55 AM.

Recording audio aside, that wasn't bad. Congrats on holding it together. I don't have any videos worth showing, actually. Just a ****ty one of a rehearsal from my band before a party. The keyboardist totally screwed up, and the audio was just on-camera, and the camera couldn't focus right because of the strobe, so it's not one of my favorites. |

YouTube - ‪CaptHayfever's Channel‬‎ Be forewarned, it took me a few songs to warm up. And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!" |

Stuff from my actual main band may or may not find its way to Youtube within the next couple of months as we do a faux-"tour" to raise money, but otherwise, this is it for now (there are other Wayne Hereford videos, but it's more of the same, really). I uploaded this one because I forgot that there was an uptempo one, and some of the improvisation at the end between the two of us is actually pretty cool.

It started off okay, but the last song kinda fell apart, so I've replaced that part with a better performance... And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I should note three things before you watch, so check it, peeps: 1) I apologize for the tempo warp near the end. I'm pretty proud of the first half of this, but I went into full-on overdrive for the last couple of choruses and it ended up a little messy. I was also pretty nervous... We were in a relatively full room and at the time I was still affected by the last remaining bits of my stage fright. There's no excuse for overplaying, though... So again, I apologize. 2) This was not our best performance, as a whole. Our bass player was pretty wasted, and we had just barely gathered all of the cords necessary to plug in and play. We were opening for a bunch of bands that were not our genre at all, and the crowd was responding sort of lukewarm... We didn't let that get to us, but the bass head got knocked off the cabinet and it just went downhill from there. This was one of the only really salvageable performances. However, the performances that did turn out all right turned out really all right. 3) I AM THE JOKER. I guess I should share the story behind why I wore that getup... We were preparing for the show, and sort of going through ideas for intro music, when I suggested we use dialogue from The Dark Knight. The scene that immediately came to mind was the first Joker-directed hostage scene, so we used The Joker's "LOOK. AT. ME!" bit and some other lines and set it to an ambient track in GarageBand. On a whim, I suggested I actually play the show in Costume, and my guitarist jokingly suggested I wear a Nurse's outfit instead of the purple suit. Since I'm known to do insane things completely sober, I was like "HELL YES." After gathering the costume, I tested it out and it seemed to be a hit. The night of the show, I changed into that getup in a greasy, mirror-less bathroom inside of a crappy gas-n-go next to the venue, and got some interestingly excited and approving remarks from the pretty-much stereotypically ethnic cashiers ("ROCKENROL, MAN. ROCKENROL."). The initial response in the room was pretty weird... Some people thought it was badass, and some people made some comments that I was able to deflect by coming back (in character) and actually earning their respect a bit. My impression was pretty well-received, in the end, despite one mysteriously homophobic comment from a hugeass dude peddling merch in the back. I guess that's to be expected, since I'm assuming he and his cousin-wife haven't seen a 6'4 dude in a skirt and red lipstick (actually crimson stage makeup) before. Just before we played, the announcer peaked behind my drumset and infamously said "Yep. He's wearin' a skirt". Yes, the makeup was incredibly hot, and since I used green spray for my hair, it was stiff and kept getting in my face and sticking. As well, I have a nervous habit of biting my lips when I play, and I spent a good portion of the show concentrating on NOT doing that so I didn't get red stage makeup all over my teeth. It was a pretty interesting experience... But it gave us a little visual appeal that I think the audience dug. Barring all of the disasters and the sort-of-shabby overall set, it was a learning experience and the bits about my costume will always go down as hilarious to me and my band... So I am sharing a (semi-sloppy, rushed-tempo) bit of that with you, my VGF pals. Enjoy.
