Listening to it right now... Sounds a lot like The Eraser, if it were as focused and fleshed-out as Kid A (edit: Apparently just the first half, now that I've heard the whole thing. Thoughts on second half below.) . There's some of the vocal tricks and atmospherics left over from In Rainbows' more electronically produced tracks... Very much loving this. It's not an entirely new direction (they flirted with this kind of music on Hail to the Thief's electronica tracks and most of Amnesiac) but I think they finally perfected what they were going for then. Oh, and Lotus Flower is going to be a live favorite, for sure. Only three more tracks to go... Codex is on now. More thoughts will be edited in when I'm done with the album. EDIT: MAN the second half is brilliant. They sort of break away from The Eraser and head off in a really beautiful direction, starting with Lotus Flower. Damn. The last four songs are all super-great, and I think Separator is something entirely different. Glad they varied it up. This album is definitely a winner in my eyes... Soooooo sooooo not disappointed. Last edited by Galefore; 02-18-2011 at 03:34 PM. |

Not exactly sure if that's going to be the case... But any chance that even more new Radiohead songs would come out to complement an already gorgeous new album is a chance I'm willing to hold on to. Either way, this album is awesome as it is... Part 2 or no Part 2, it's great on its own despite its brevity. EDIT: The most compelling evidence is probably the weird twitter clues (some stuff in Japanese indicating today's date), the stuff listed earlier, and, of course, the final track being called "Separator" and including a line at the very end that says "if you think this is over then you're wrong". All conjecture at this point, but it's looking pretty likely. Here's hoping if they do release a part two they don't make those of us who actually payed for the first 8 songs pay again. Since it's looking less and less likely that there was a part 2, I can chalk this one up to Radiohead fans (me included, I guess) being insane. |
