The Flaming Lips Plan 'Yoshimi' Musical
Band is teaming up with the co-creator of 'Tommy'
By Matthew Perpetua

The Flaming Lips have announced plans for a psychedelic stage musical loosely based on their 2002 album Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. According to frontman Wayne Coyne, the group are collaborating with the co-creator of the stage version of the Who's Tommy to create something "hokey and wonderful and poignant and powerful."

The musical will feature around 30 songs from the Lips' catalog, including most of the Yoshimi record as well as numbers from The Soft Bulletin and At War With the Mystics. Though this will be the group's first venture into musical theater, they have some experience with working their music into a dramatic narrative. In 2008, the Flaming Lips released Christmas On Mars, a movie featuring their music starring the band members and their friends.

Since the musical project is still in its early stages, there is no timetable established for when or where this production will debut.
I kinda liked Christmas on Mars. This could be interesting. At the very least, it should be better than Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

The only reason I even clicked this thread was to say it will at least be better than Spiderman: Turn off...

Curse you Hayfever.

hopefully the music is mostly from The Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi. At War with the Mystics was pretty weak.
