Oh boy, this is going to be difficult... so I'm just going to give one or two or six of the first songs to jump into my mind for each decade.

60's - "A Day in the Life" by the Beatles... or "A Change is Gonna Come" by Sam Cooke
70's - "I Want You (Vocal Version)" by Marvin Gaye... "Ever Fallen in Love?" by the Buzzcocks
80's - At the moment, "Mots" by Ruth, though "Bone Machine" by the Pixies is probably my all time favorite
90's - "Common People" by Pulp... "The World is Yours" by Nas... "The Universal" by Blur... "Miss Misery" by Elliot Smith... "Fen Lie" by Faye Wong... "To Here Knows When" by My Bloody Valentine
