Granted, you expect that from a collaboration between such disparate artists. I can see listening to this----sort of a 'Heathen/Reality'-era Bowie vibe. There's certainly worse supergroups out there. |

Uh yeah, deffo. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young? It's in the name, man. The Traveling Wilburies? Well it had better - Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, George Harrison, and Jeff Lynne don't exactly come cheaply. Last edited by Cosmonautical; 08-04-2011 at 07:57 AM. Sometimes I completely forget about bands like Journey and Cream being supergroups. However, modern day hasn't really produced the best supergroups. Jack White has two great ones (The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather), there's APC, Them Crooked Vultures, and probably some more that I'm missing. (I'm not really sure if the Postal Service really counts...) Then there's Audioslave, who made some good songs but for the most part were just "okay". I hate Velvet Revolver (though maybe that's just because I hate Scott Weiland). Chickenfoot is how I view a lot of supergroups. Getting a bunch of big name rock musicians, basing your advertising on "WE'VE GOT PEOPLE FROM RHCP AND VAN HALEN! PLUS JOE SATRIANI!", and then making incredibly mediocre music. |
