So I was made music mod very recently after my old stomping grounds (le gunjin) finally passed away (RIP) and I would like to utilize this to be so very extremely music nerdy... But I'mma be (immabeimmabe) needing your help. I plan to utilize the ever-so-popular "Of The Week" thread style (and it's going to be Genre of the Week, because that's super broad and I hope it'd be engaging) but I want to try some new stuff and share some music. It'd be selfish if I was the only one sharing; after all, music's subjective, and we all experience it differently. So I want EVERYONE of my fellow gloriously music-nerdy peeps to contribute. Meaning I totally don't mind you threadjacking my explorations of genres to show me your favorite band or musician in that genre.

Feel free to share some suggestions for the first genre that shall be explored. Be aware these will likely be sub-genres and some of them may be questionable as actual genres. If you dislike or disagree with them, please try not to be inflammatory. I want to discover new music, not be introduced to new levels of hate. Music seems to be SUPER hard to talk about without a fight breaking out, but VGF's music forums seem to be a REALLY chill place for music discussion, so let's keep it that way.

Hey, neat idea. I always like learning more about subgenres I'm not as familiar with---awesome way of encountering terrific-yet-lesser-known bands..

As much as I love to listen to music and sing out-of-tune and off-key, I'm not 'cluey' about a lot of the sub-genres... so this should add to my knowledge!!!

also i'm so for music forum being more active because as i've noticed, the people on VGF seem to have pretty awesome taste

(and serious genre suggestion i'm thinking is post-hardcore/emo, as it's one of my favorites, and I know you're probably an even bigger fan of the genre than I am)

And if anyone is wondering, I am in fact writing up the document and working up some links and stuff. I shall be putting effort into this... Music is my passion, after all. :P
