But they were a toy company at the time, which would logically make them referred to as a toy company.

After all, do you refer to Nintendo as a video-game company or a card company these days?

I've read your post about seven times over two days, and I still don't understand it.

That would be true if they were a toy company. But they made playing cards, not toys.

Now, I'm sure some toy companies have put out playing cards. Hasbro's no doubt made a few. But Nintendo was like Hoyle Productions (dudes who made a couple packs of Garfield playing cards I have), and made just playing cards.

A video game company, of course. But what they became doesn't automatically erase from history what they once were. Like, they were once the 800-pound gorilla of video gaming, but are now constantly switching second place with Microsoft and have been resorting to gimmicks to make sales instead of actual substance.

And what does what they are now have to do with what they were? If the only way to become a video game company was to originally be a toy company, what gives with Sony and Microsoft? Probably Sega as well, but I forget what they majored in prior to video games.

A few zingers/quick things.

1. If you loved Ape Escape, then read this and weep: It used the technology that Sony is being sued for. Thus, this guaruntees either the impossibility of more Ape Escape games or a serious change to how they work.

2. Nintendo doesn't really seem to be interested in ruling the video game world. Rather, they sit back while Microsoft and Sony fight for first.

3. Woe be the people who hoped for Sonic Xtreme for Sega Saturn...

I think companies lose money for every system sold. The games are what bring in the income.

I'm kind of curious to know what first party games the Xbox has. Blinx?

Sony also made that God of War game everybody is crapping their pants over. Yet all anyone seems to be able to say about it is "It's a perfect 10 because you can break people's spines!".

Atari- No longer a hardware company
Sega- No longer a hardware company
SNK- went out of business
Nokia- It's only a matter of time...
Wonderswan- Nope....
And now, Sony drowning under it's curse!
Xbox fans better tell Microsoft to NEVER make a handheld console!
The curse of the handhelds. Well, I don't like Sony, and I've known this for a while, too. Over at IGN we have known this for a couple of weeks.

VIVA LA REVOLUTION!

I said first party. Halo is made by Bungie, a second party company.
