Bowser has usually been an evil genius. I don't know what Mario you ahve been following, but all I know is back in the late 80s, Bowser wasn't a complete imbassile.

The eye laser one where you're supposed to be in the air if she looks down, or on the ground if she looks up? The sphere one where she randomly flashes an assortment of purple, red, and green spheres, then when it teleports away, a red one attacks Mario and a green one will attack Luigi, and if you manage to miss it with your hammer it does 2 HP damage? (Granted, I could be a bit overleveled, but my Bros. only have about 110 HP each, which kind of freaks me out when there's a mushroom to restore 120 HP, then another one to restore "all" HP. Though I am the type who'd rather boost Defense than HP.) ![]() Where are these lemmings going? The Super Nintendo Super Shire! Hop in line and follow them there! |

(no cheats, and im not exaggerating.) Mario- lev.59 hp 172 bp 73 pow 232 def 235 speed 167 stache 183 Luigi- lev. 59 hp 232 bp 101 pow 222 def 247 speed 171 stach 239 Without action commands for the basic jump, Mario hits 276 and Luigi hits 272. With action commands it is double. And just think about what a bros. attack will do... And you think youre overleveled... Back to the topic, Ive played PM-TYD for several hours. And it is tedious. It takes to long to get back to a save spot if i need to get off, the battle design is just dumb, and the audience throws stuff at me like rare badges. I mean, COME ON! And I must say that I hate the music. All of it. And the sounds are dorky. Dont get me started on the graphics. All in all, PM-TYD is a waste of my time. I played it at my friends house, so it didnt waste my money, fortunately... I am not flaming anyone for their opinion, I am just stating my own. And before you flame me for confusing PM and TYD, I am referring to TYD in every aspect. [ May 23, 2005, 04:56 PM: Message edited by: Lemmingboss ] |

Hey, that rhy-:slaughteredafy: If she did charge up, it was as annoying as hell, especially on my first try. |

Quote:
As for the backgrounds, they could’ve done a lot better. They basically stole the hand-drawn style from SMW2: Yoshi’s Island, and screwed it up horribly. Like slightly shading and putting the Colored Pencil filter from Photoshop overtop a low-poly image, like something you’d see from Star Fox. The overall effect was just bland and uninteresting. Speaking of; the action commands are rather dull and boring. Quote:
And the “puzzles”...or should I say, “lack thereof”. Wow. “Deliver this to this guy”. “Get the wizard so he’ll point out the fake toads are fake toads”. “Find the stupid temple in the desert”. ...Yeah. Looking back, I now feel that I wasted my money on Paper Mario. At least PM:TTYD had (somewhat) strong puzzles (Hey, at least it gave use to those pointless Attack FX badges), faster battles, and a bit more meat in its storyline. Paper Mario felt too much like doing the same old thing all over again for no real reason whatsoever.

And I don't ever recall him having an idiotic plan, he just used the same plan. Bowser is not an idiot, he's just a little bit, slow.

He drove a motorcycle off a cliff once. He stole an unstoppable robotic suit that would have never been defeated had he not accidentally blown himself out of it by pressing the big red button. He keeps changing his name based on what crazy 80s parody the show happens to turn into next. The only reason his plans worked at all is because while Bowser was an idiot, the Bros. weren't exactly geniuses themselves. |

Showing a little respect never hurt anyone, did it? Too little save points is not the reason I hate it, and no, I haven't died yet. What I meant was that if I am told that I have to go in five minutes, and I am in a castle, with quite a few enemies, I cant get to a save point in time because the battle system is too slow. Which means I lose progress. Which was one of the several irritants that made me stop playing it. Even if there are quite a few save points, that doesn't help if I cant get back to them in time.

And yes, I know that I can run from battles, but there's still not enough time. And it might be just me, but it feels like you're being condescending, with tips of things that are so obvious that my little brother would know them. I would appreciate some respect, thank you very much.

Sure, I admit to being the violent type who fights everything, but on top of that Paper Mario's running sequence was annoying. You had to hammer the A button (if you haven't figured it out by now, I really hate button mashing minigames), and no matter how well you did you'd lose several coins (okay, later in the game this becomes somewhat moot, since the final dungeon doesn't have much of a shop and it's less than halfway through the dungeon. It's just that I feel just having to mash the A button should be your penalty for running from a battle) and the enemy had a chance of just running back into you and starting the whole thing over again. ![]() Where are these lemmings going? He's a giant turtle obsessed with kidnapping the princess. He's got a one track mind, and the only track that he does have tends to derail most of the time. He is... an idiot. And Lemmingboss, that's pathetic. There was a save point in each town and probably two in each dungeon. If you couldn't make it to the end of a dungeon you could make it to the middle or back to the beginning. Your opinions weren't well justified. If you avoided the monsters you should have had plenty of time to get to a save point. Codiekitty, you're invincible to monster attacks for enough time to get away as long as you don't do something stupid like try to pick up the coins you lose when you run. And if you think the action commands do too little, equip an All or Nothing badge. That raises the stakes quite a bit. And I still don't get where you guys get off with the graphics. The graphics don't even resemble Yoshi's island except in the case of a few backgrounds. The character style is radically different. And the paper thing worked out fine. |
