I beat Mario Kart DS, and I'm playing through this one right now! I love it very much. It's the most linear RPG I've ever played, but it's very good. I'm at the end of the volcano right now just before the fight with SPOILERS Bowser and his baby selfSPOILERS. It's been great. I'm also glad to see that the fury-bearer is back. ![]() |

"Icing on the cake" doesn't make much sense either; who wants to eat cake that doesn't have icing? I also noticed Best Buy didn't have the Gargoyles Season 2 Vol. 1, which was released on the 6th. They did have Garfield and Friends Vol. 5 which was also released on the 6th. I already ordered both of them from Amazon a while ago (along with March of the Penguins), but it still struck me as odd that they didn't have Gargoyles. They did have the He-Man Christmas Special, so I snagged that up. The cheese factor sounded right up my alley. ![]() Where are these lemmings going? The Super Nintendo Super Shire! Same price as Best Buy would have had it for. Wee! ![]() Where are these lemmings going? The Super Nintendo Super Shire! Hop in line and follow them there! |

It gave me such a rush of nostalgia. The entire area of that game is a tribute to the Yoshi series. It brought a tear to my eyes...such memories of my youthful youth! . And I was beginning to think Nintendo forgot all about their older self! This is solid proof they havent left their roots behind! Another reason why I love Nintendo![ December 25, 2005, 06:23 AM: Message edited by: Bandit ] |

I myself liked the SMRPG chest in Bowser's Castle. The game had some interesting things. I liked the replacement of high jumps with the much easier X or Y button. There were still a bunch of awful sequences required. Nobody should have to press so many buttons in a sequence to turn flat. The final final final final boss was pretty cool. In fact, all the final bosses were kind of interesting. They had a lot of HP, and I mean a lot, not even my 699 damage with a red shell had much of a dent on Princes Shroob. But the later ones were easier, which was nice. I beat all but the very very last on my first try. The Bros items were better than the Bros. Moves. The ice flower's defense down made it interesting, and even the weakest bro item, Green Shell, was still useful far into the game. This is in direct contrast to many RPGs in which items become obsolete shortly after you aquire them. The game had some terrible flaws, though. I found there were very, very few attacks that were better dodged with Mario or Luigi acting separately instead of just jumping at the same time. This is really bad when you consider how many attacks are supposed to have you looking at the enemies to determine which bro is supposed to dodge. The Cobalt Star, yet another annoying chapter in the book of nondescript starlike items, could have been done a lot better. There were a couple of good twists the game could have done and instead you just get cheap final boss matter. Speaking of which, all the hinting at the plot twist had me hoping for more game content. I suppose the final final final final boss was content enough, but don't tell me you weren't hoping for an evil Star Spirit to come down and wreak havoc. In the end, quite entertaining. But once you complete it you never want to touch it again. There are no sidequests I know of. (And what happened to the villagers of Hollijolli?) The Toadsworths were funny, and t3h l33t h4mm3r br0z were hilarious, but they had very limited roles. Also, when most of your enemies speak in either a different language or in short sentences, the story suffers. PiT fixed a lot of SS's problem's, such as the slanted battle system, but it brought a lot of new problems (absolutely NO sidequests except for the beans.) I'm still rooting for the handheld RPGs to improve, but out of the three MRPG "styles," it's my least favorite. |

The storyline isn't the best. Fawful is in the game, but his part is so small it's not even funny. Yes, I was expecting to see an evil Star Spirit or something come down and destroy stuff. [edited for spoilers] The game is too short and has NO sidequests and, as hard as the final bosses were, I got past them all on my second try. (HINT: Be at or near level 30 for all bros. and have a bountiful bros. items stock). Other than this, the game is great if for the references to other games, the humor, and the epic battles alone. EDITED BECAUSE I BLEW IT. [ December 27, 2005, 11:02 PM: Message edited by: Smithy GCN ] |

I guess if you didn't want spoilers you wouldn't enter a topic about the game, but you might enter it to know whether it was worth buying or something and thus wouldn't want to know the end like that. It was no dark star spirit, but hey, at least it wasn't expected. Did you expect it? Because I sure didn't. |
