Sweet Home is the mother of all horror games, but you can't stop playing it until you reach the end. I got far to the part I reached the Room of 2 Armors to Yamamura. The only problem I have with it is that it's a pain to time the pray bar, but it doesn't waste your turns.

I can't give what I think about it, but it's a good game, and if the storyline wasn't as confusing, it causes my mind to wonder what really happened. Also not for the faint of heart.

Doesn't the movie just seem even lamer now?

In my opinion, Sweet Home was actually creepier than some of the more modern horror games.

There's something about the NES that's just scarier than other systems.

Maybe it's because at the time of the NES most of us had no idea how we got all those sounds and images from a plastic cartridge.

Maybe it's because of the creepy flashing sequence or garbled graphics the NES often gave you instead of the game you wanted.

My NES STILL does that. The "flashing images and garble" thing. Fortunately, the NEX is probably out by now. It works without a hitch, and is compatible with all NES carts! Even Japanese ones! Yee! It'll set you back about sixty bucks, though. It's available at messiah.com.

I tried playing it, but the ROM didn't work for some reason.

I got my version of the ROM from Emuasylum. It works just fine. It all depends upon the version of the ROM you download, I suppose. Most pre-fantranslated ROMs don't work worth crap.

I downloaded a couple of the Japanese ROMs to work on reading Hiragana, and they're both really glitchy. In one of them, a character would randomly vanish and let out what I think is a "Help me" message. Once I tried having Kazuo use Team on Asuka after she vanished, and he got warped to somewhere else in the mansion.

The second one would go black and white when you brought up a menu.

Try using the ROM I posted on my site. It's English and works.

Thanks! (The problems I had were that as soon as the characters moved, they vanished. And if I tried calling on them, their death sequences displayed.)

I haven't played Sweet Home much yet, but it seems great. Brilliant idea, at least.

Radical Dreamers on the SNES (you can get the ROM somewhere, might need a translation patch though) is another game with great atmosphere. Pretty spooky. Immersive, too.

If you loved Crono Cross for the PlayStation, you owe it to yourself to play the one game that inspired that 32-bit classic.

I LOVED CHRONO CROSS! I played Chrono Trigger, and I still preferred CC. I played through CC like, 6 times. It's easilly my favorite RPG game.
