I got my Chemistry Test back. A whopping 25% (didn't help that I was in such a hurry to get my stuff in the room that I left my calculator behind). We get to redo the questions we missed for 10% EC, but looking over this... some of these weren't even my fault. One question reads: Crystalline solids differ from amorphous solids in that crystalline solids have ____. a) appreciable intermolecular attractive forces b) a long-range repeating pattern of atoms, molecules, or ions c) atoms, molecules, or ions that are close together d) much larger atoms, molecules, orions e) no orderly structure According to him, the correct answer was E. Um, the book says Crystalline solids have orderly structure. Amorphous solids have disorder. What the hell. Another question reads: _____ is the energy required to expand the surface area of a liquid by a unit amount of area. a) Viscosity b) Surface Tension c) Volatility d) Meniscus e) Capillary action The answer key says C. The book says volatility is a substance's tendency to evaporate. EDIT: Okay, I just found the answer in the book. Word for word, "Surface Tension is the energy required to expand the surface area of a liquid by a unit amount of area." Which is what I answered. Which I got wrong because either the answer key or the teacher is retarded. Schools like this are why our jobs are being outsourced. ![]() Where are these lemmings going? From somebody who was 15th in her class in high school. I'm so glad to be out of there, and with my scholarship intact. Even if I did get stained with my first C ever. And by the end of the semester Japanese was starting to feel like a leash. I went in there to learn Japanese, and instead it was often an hour of the teacher's ranting and raving about humanity or astronomy or something, then 15 minutes of Japanese. Yet at the same time I really couldn't go ahead while out of class, because I had to stay with what the class was doing. Now I can settle down with the learning Japanese books I got off Amazon and the assorted Japanese player's guides and games I got off eBay and just learn it by myself. Although it's totally different from English ("Is cat" sounds perfectly normal in Japanese) it's supposed to be a fairly easy language. ![]() Where are these lemmings going?
