It's not bad either, and it got a thumb's up, but just barely. The game has its moments. The sky planet at the end is kind of neat, as is the satellite with the radars you have to destroy, and the first planet you set foot on is a swamp planet with a rundown Megacorp store overrun with plants. But there's nothing in this game that compares to, say, the warring planet, the toxic planet, or the moon base in the first game. And the final planet of the first was far better than this one's (as was the final boss). Some parts are stretched out to their breaking point - the giant robot boss takes about three times as long as he should to kill. Some parts are just annoying. Three examples come to mind: 1) Those stupid planetoid battles with giant Clank. I didn't even bother to win the second one, since it was optional and the first one almost drove me insane. 2) The ice planet with all those yetis that come out in small armies, take forever to kill, and respawn when you do. 3) In the final level, there's several segments where you have to fight robot guard enemies that usually come in foursomes and take a helluva lot of hits to kill... only to have them all respawn when you kill them all. The final boss has a glitch that I don't know if it's an annoyance or a blessing. Under certian circumstances (I had it happen three times) the little protopets it spits up become invincible. This means there'll always be some protopets nipping at your heels, but the final boss will just stand there, not roll around or spit up more protopets, giving you clear shots at him (except for his little cronies which you have to keep dodging), although he will run if you get too close to him. This game's battle system is basically ramboing (plus, as you beat enemies you gain HP - I had at least 44 when I made it to the final boss). And the camera kind of sucks; I don't remember fighting with it at all in the first game. ...gee, maybe the only reason I gave it Game of the Moment is because I really wanted to update my "of the Moment" stuff. Some trivia about this game's name: 1) "Going commando" is a slang term meaning "not wearing underwear". i.e. "John's going commando" means "John isn't wearing underwear" 2) "Going Commando" was the final skill point of the first R&C game. You got it by killing ten of those Blaargians with the jetpacks on the final planet with only your wrench. ![]() Where are these lemmings going? Not the Super Nintendo Super Shire!
