Everybody here needs to get off the computer, go out, and buy Spider-Man 2 for whatever next-gen system you may have. This is the most realistic Spidey sim EVER. You really feel like Spider-Man in this game. And as an added bonus, it's completely non-linear. There is a story mode, but you never have to do anything in it to have a blast with this game. This means that you don't need to worry about spoiling the movie for yourself. The setting is a scaled down model of ALL OF NEW YORK CITY. ALL OF IT. If you knew where to find it, you could go crawl around Jerry Seinfeld's window! So you go around and stop crimes and save people's lives and hang criminals up from traffic lights with webbing once you've knocked them out. You also get to save people from sinking boats! You can even jump a good 20 stories into the air from a standstill! And unlike the other 3D Webhead games, you don't webswing from clouds. You actually have to shoot your webbing at buildings and trees and traffic lights and helicopters (yes, helicopters) and what have you. This is the real thing, Spidey fans. This is the game you've been waiting for.

Sorry that this isn't really about NC, but I couldn't find a better place to stick it. The NC fans are the most avid gamers and most active members of VGF, so I decided to put it here. You may now resume your regularly scheduled NC games and discussions.

I'd put this in the reviews forum, but no big deal, I guess.

Sounds pretty decent. Perhaps I should look into renting or possibly buying it.

Nobody would read it. That forum's half-dead.

Sounds great... I'll probably rent it first, but I'll definitely buy it afterwards if I like it.

Looks like I haven't conivnced you guys enough yet. All right, let's continue...

You can jump off of a building onto a stolen car, punch it for a while (by the way, Spidey is hella strong), and eventually total it. Then the theif gets out. You can sprint up to him, uppercut him a good fifty feet in the air, jump up after him, and proceed to beat him senseless as he plummets back to the hard cement street. You can also swipe enemies guns with your web. If that doesn't work, you can still dodge their bullets using your Spidey sense. You can also pull off a number of stunts in the air. One of the best is swinging to the side of a building, running along it for a while, jumping off, falling until you nearly splat on the ground, and swinging again at the very last second. Did I mention that this is the most addictive game since Animal Crossing? Part of this is because New York is a friggin' huge city. Another part is that you get bonuses for collecting numerous tokens around the city. Don't be fooled, this is nothing like Rare's collect-a-thons. You don't need to get these tokens to complete the story. The tokens simply reinforce a sense of adventure. There are 150 skyscraper tokens (meaning there are well over 150 buildings in the game), 37 hideout tokens (meaning you can go into 37 of the buildings), and many other kinds of many other tokens. Once again, you DO NOT HAVE TO COLLECT THESE TOKENS. They're only there for the people who want to say that they've been absolutely everywhere in the game (which will take forever). There are a million other things I could tell you about this game, but I won't waste your time. If even one person here is persuaded to play this game, I'll be happy. I implore you people, do not miss out on this gaming gem.

Hey Rayman Freak, GameSpot said that the New York City in Spiderman 2 is actually one half the size of the real NYC. ....I love this game. Although, I hate having to take 2 helicopter rides over to the Statue of Liberty. I just shouldn't have to do that!

That sounds really awesome. Do you get to fight any supervillains without going into story mode?

cell: It's been scaled down to 1/2 it's real size. The whole thing's still there.

Yoshinator: Sadly, you must go through the story to fight super-villains. However, after you complete story mode, some of the super-villains' henchmen, who are much stronger than normal enemies, will continue to commit crimes around the city. Normal enemies will also get more difficult after you fight more and more of them.

Thumbs down

I got the PC version, unfortunately... it sucks.

To ELABORATE on the suckiness:

It's COMPLETELY linear with a storyline NOTHING AT ALL even REMOTELY similar to the movie, you have to load every few blocks you go, you can't go to all of NYC, you don't webswing from anywhere, just from webswing "points"... it suxxorz your boxxorz. I'm gonna try and trade it in for a console version...

I bought the game and I loved it. Despite the countless flaws, it's still a solid game. Seems Treyarch got it right where it counts.
