I played it this morning, it is really well-done (though it does take a while to load) http://www.smbhq.com/users/productions/ncec.htm |

I have had malicious software on my computer that was more fun than this. I mean it. I'd go into safe mode, scout around, and try and stop my computer from screwing up and it wasn't all that bad. But that is neither here nor there. The point is that this game really sucks. They didn't even change the sand backgrounds from the ones you find in Game Maker. I have made far better games in a day on my own, and they were a team working for months. And the stupid thing was 16 MB. I mean... did you play any of the levels? Picking up, like 5 red stamped letters? Opening doors with no apparent way to tell which will kill you and which won't? In case anybody's wondering about my name on the staff page, this is one of those things that I said I'd help with but never actually get to doing it. Like the Mario Busters Movie. |

And yes, it might have been better had I helped. But that sounds kinda like bragging and since I didn't help there'd be no way of telling that. But really, though, Nintendo quality? No. I was expecting something even a little fun. That's what any game should primarily be, right? Well, it failed completely. Like I said, I have actually had more fun with malicious computer-damaging software I tried to remove from my computer. And that is not an exaggeration. |

Something this quality should have been around 3 months tops. Second, I suspect part of the problem is that their game maker sucks. I recommended a thing called The Games Factory, from which I alone probably could create a better game than that. But the main thing is simple. You've got mis-matched sounds, the use of some which violate copyright law. As a result, there is a chance SMBHQ could be sued for merely hosting it. The use of the Paper Mario II's music straight from the game, of course. The other midis are... well, one or two, and generally suck. The levels consist of mindless games with two variations: Avoid certain objects, grab certain objects. Occasionally both. Mario gets strangely hung up at times when I'm trying to make him stop going up and turn left. He should be able to go diagonally. The game also had a weird mismatch of hand-drawn and game sprites. It's all or nothing, not 50%! The stamp thing, in the demo, was way too hard. There was no explanation of how it worked there. Now it has become easy, save for the fact the stamps are so small it strains my eyes to pick them out. Overall, I give this a D. |

I agreed with most of what you said except for the game maker part and then you go off on 'proofs', and then on flaming. I wasn't even flaming you. You'll know when I'm flaming. Check out the comics forum. |

I'm a SMBHQ staff member and a whole lot of other stuff. Unfortunately, it looks like this topic will be locked. So let's just forget about this and move on. Clearly nobody who actually cares about the game is posting in here anyway. Stop misunderstanding me and stop posting in this topic too. You don't understand what I'm saying so there's no point in furthering this discussion. Edit: You've got to chuckle at how similarly we talk. I mean, it's like arguing with a mirror. And no, we don't really talk the same way. If I had to associate my posts with anybody else's it'd probably be LvK because your posts just aren't hateful enough. | |

Could the Dr. Donez game be any more generic? And what's the difference between the red and green stamps, aside from the green ones making Mario stop dead in his tracks then refuse to start moving again? The Doors of Doom one is bullcrap. As somebody else already mentioned, there's no way to tell which is the right door. And when you lose, you have to muck through the Dr. Donez thing again. Only an idiot could lose to the bridge of death game. Since you only have to move right and stop once in a while, Mario's crappy turning ability doesn't add anything to it. The only thing that made the Mountain Climber game at all difficult was Mario's unresponsive controls. I still beat it on my first try. The Taco game was even lamer than the Donez game. Wow, it's so obvious which ones Fred wants; the ones that aren't moldy! Just like the Mountain Climber one, Dr. Donez one at the end is only the least bit difficult because of how sloppy Mario's controls are. It was still easy. What is up with that taco one at the very end? You control a floating Shy Guy and just snake around the arena and get all the tacos. The only game I didn't beat on my first try was the Door one. And that's because that one's so halfassly designed. I guess it's still better than Action 52. EDIT: When describing the envelope game, I had mixed up "Green" and "Purple". ![]() Where are these lemmings going? The Super Nintendo Super Shire! Hop in line and follow them there!
