Anyway, I was at Hasting's and saw a box set of what I think is that show you said you got your name from. It was $30, so I didn't want to pick it up until I was sure it was the right one. The main question though, I thought you said it was a cartoon and this was live action, but maybe my memory is just fuzzy. Is this it? They know to go to Codiekitty.com now! |

You're probably remembering two parts of the conversation actually. I was trying to come up with names for characters, vehicles, locations, etc. for a group of comic characters I created back in high school. Somewhere along the way I was reminiscing about watching "Riptide" as a kid, but for the life of me I couldn't remember the name of the show. Eventually, the name came back to me and decided that I really liked it... But it didn't really fit anything I was working on at the time so I filed it away for later use. Riptides (the natural phenomenon) are unseen or overlooked, often underestimated, and as such, usually take people by surprise. As an extreme introvert, the name "Riptide" was a perfect fit for me when it came time to create an online identity. It's pretty much stuck ever since. As for the TV show itself. I honestly can't tell you if I recommend it or not, as I only have the faintest memories of it. What I can tell you though, was that as a child I was a sucker for just about anything with lots of vehicles and or Sci-Fi tech (the main characters in Riptide, as I recall, had a hot-rod, a pickup, two boats, a helicopter, AND a robot). Another example of this would be that my favorite childhood movie was "Silver Streak" simply because most of the movie took place on a train. I still enjoy the film as an adult though (and certainly appreciate it more now that I'm old enough to really understand the humor). Riptide was typical 80's fare from what I remember. I imagine that if you're into shows like "Magnum P.I.", "The A-Team", and "Miami Vice" you'll probably enjoy it. Here's the shows intro on Youtube... Still trying to find direction in my life... still grappling with the same old problems and catch-22s that life loves to dish out... hoping and striving to have my personal site updated before the month is out (than I can concentrate on a project for CK)... and in-between all that, stopping by the VGF Arcade to kick some tail with my old school skillz. ![]() How've you been doing Jay? I'm doing all right I guess, myself. Graduate school consumes most of my life at the moment, and will probably do so for another few years. But it's funny, since I was just talking about you the other day, when I was talking to someone about how awesome that "Dr. Donez at Work" picture is and how much I love it, heh. I was thinking that I need to get that picture printed nicely on a cel or something and framed for my apartment, heh. That would be sweet.-jay |

VGF was working kinda funky for me last night (threads weren't loading fully, I had to keep hitting refresh). When I hit send it jumped straight into the sent box (no outbox), so I was wondering if that glitched out too. |
