Epic Ladynerd Join Date: Jul 2000 Location: Forteresse de Valois Gender: Posts: 28,504 Thanks: 1,658 Thanked 1,820 Times in 1,042 Posts | First memory of VGF, since we were all newbies once! I actually came to VGF via The Grand Adventures (Nintendoland), since I was on the hunt for Zelda-related information. I joined and participated in a "shipper" thread; discussing which character Link should have a romantic relationship with. I was rather fond of "hero gets the princess", and supported Link and Zelda. I was promptly asked by Mike Peters how old I was. XD |

I also came here from the Grand Adventures web site after clicking a link to discuss one of the fanfics I had just read by Post Rapture. I was transported here and read some of the threads before moving out of the fanfic forum and into the Zelda forum where I came upon the latter end of the First Hyrule Battlfield. I saw what was to become a great part of the VGF forum and jumped at my first chance to battle some one once the second Hyrule battlfield opened up. I tried attacking Volvagia with a spork of death....it did not bode well for me..... |

Don't remember much of what I did my first few months here, aside from taking part in the original HWII. Also a crazy-ass OG in the Rareware Forum, called 'Battle of the Rareware Characters', being a battle royale between Banjo, Kazooie, Gruntilda, DK, Joanna Dark, JFG's Juno, and Mister Pants. Too bad all that weird old crap is gone, now. |

I naturally made a topic about a Sony battle in the Sega Battlefield. I rightly got told. |

Which sucked. Of course, nobody told me that. |

I had seen the Nintendoland deathmatches and intended on roleplaying some of my own--with the Nintendoland Battlefield Club which had formed in the Nintendoland Main. I managed to join their group and participate in two-three of their monthly topic battles before the Nintendoland Battlefield was eventually made for us. I remember the early fights were at places like Lon Lon Ranch, and Metal Man back then used weird stuff like crystal hammers and bows and arrows to hit people. Also, I had to tell everyone repeatedly my name did not mean the Mega Man 2 robot master. I also remembered plotting to get the name Metal Mario back some day, as until 2002 this name had only been mine so as to be a stopgap until I would 'eventually' get the Metal Mario name. I don't know why I was thinking that, but... that's my memory. |

I spent most of my first month in the comics forum, because I didn't realize there was more to VGF... And now from deep within the archives I have unearthed the first ever post by me. |

I remember making a Pokémon Topic where people would ask me anything because I thought I knew everything about it. Someone asked me how to evolve Nidorina and I didn't know how... =

I don't recall much before I became a part of the Late Club, then later on being active in the Battlefeild. - You stupid dog. |

I dunno, I forgot. Maybe in 2002? 03? Eh, I forgot '~' Anyways, on the site, I looked around, and found NC. I liked the comics and the little flash animation there. Then, I decided to look around and found out it had a forum on VGF. And that's how I found and joined VGF :] I don't remember much after that, though... except when I forgot about VGF forums .3.; |

He had a link to VGF in his sig, and I followed it one time. I was drawn in by the Zelda forum immediately, since TMK didn't have one. Anyway, my first memory was when TML and Wyborn taught me how to post an image, and it took me about a page to grasp how to use UBB Code. P.S. I was 8. |

Anyway, I came here through Nintendoland. What led to me signing up on the forums was my boredom on Christmas Eve of 1999. What was originally meant to be just a temporary time-killer evolved into an obsession, and I eventually became the Moderator of the Nintendoland Main Forum for four illustrious years. In early 2004, however, I decided it was time to move on, and I left for a long time. Then, in September of this year, my lack of friends and a life drove me back, and here I am, hungry again. I remember the first topic I posted was a lament about the passing of the late Mrs. Wrinkly Kong.

Let me see if I can find it. I CAN'T FIND MY FIRST POST. And reading through all my old posts was making me sick, so I decided to stop. Last edited by Valigarmander; 12-11-2009 at 04:13 PM. |

| Senior Member Join Date: May 2008 Location: Sutme Gender: Posts: 3,648 Thanks: 404 Thanked 331 Times in 256 Posts Blog Entries: 3 | Mine is a interesting story if i say it myself, around 2001 we got internet at home, old modem that sounden like a broken merry go round when you started it, i was searching through Club nintendos official Swedish site when i stumbled upon a link that was higlighted by the Club itself, the link was Nintendo land. Nintendoland got me the information i needed for my fooling around on the internet, i soon found fanfiction and Deathmatches and i finaly saw a little link that said affilities (or links i don't remember this) i saw there VGF and some other forums that i searched through, but not that interested me much, to much text to little pictures. It all could have stoped when the site stopped to be uppdated, but from time to time i stoped by at my youths information centre and i found stuff that i had forgoten or that i knew that the specifications was in there somewhere, i allso revisited Vgf. I allso read the Zelda site regulary that i think uppdated to around 2006 if i remeber right. Then i started in the Gymnasium and i didn't think so much about videogames for about 2 years Though, I think i allso had the timing to pop in around when knux had passed away cause i remeber reading some post about someone that had died, it's kind of blurry but i can say it was not in the memorial forum atleast. but then in 2008 my mind would once again travel to that site that i had so much use of in my youngerdays and i began to search for it, funny part is that i there found out that Angry sun, was about to restat the site, i registered there i allso voluntered to write deathmatches but never found the time to write them. I feelt that the forum didn't rub the way i wanted it but i managed to find a little link that would lead me to this site where i registered and apperantly im still here thinking this is one of the greatest forums to hang on. hmm got a little long, but i think it fitted well. |

I wanted to join, but I was afraid to because my mom was extremely protective and this site is sometimes less than safe for overly-conservative parents. ![]() And thus I lurked, craving to interact with the rather colorful locals... Anyway, I caught on to the Gunjin when I was heavily into Yu-Gi-Oh and really wanted to be a part of the Yu-Gi-Oh duels they occasionally had there. I stumbled on to the 8th NLBFT and became entranced with a battle between Zippy and SL64, thus creating an even stronger desire than before to join and be a part of the madness. From there, it was just a matter of sneaking on and getting an account in January of '05 and being schooled quickly in both the Gunjin and the sprite comics forum, which I, like many noobs before, thought I could try my luck at and be superawesomeyeeeeah. Actually, both of my first posts seem to have disappeared. My noob topic is long missing in the weird, glitchy backlog, and my actual first post, which was in the book of warriors, was edited away some time in '07 when I was renovating my characters (all of whom I was so naively proud of back then. It still makes me cringe. XD). I remember posting something about "BECAUSE JUST BECAUSE I AM A NOOB I CAN POST HERE FIRST RIGHT?" and then emphatically suggesting that no jokes be made about my character's name, for some reason. I was telling one of my friends how awesome the site was, and not only did he know the site, but he posted on the forums, and told me I should join. So I joined. And I posted a topic called "What are your three LEAST favorite games?" No one replied. So I posted a topic called "Why aren't you replying to 'What are your three LEAST favorite games?'" Then I was promptly told why by Omnitarian and Zora. |
