| *Admin* "mine.. not yours. NO. MINE." Epic Ladynerd Join Date: Jul 2000 Location: Forteresse de Valois Gender: Posts: 23,585 Thanks: 251 Thanked 353 Times in 218 Posts | Newbie FAQ's. Newbie’s Frequently Asked Questions. Q: How do you post a picture? A: You post a picture by putting the URL between image tags, which look like [img] [/img]. To get the URL of a picture, hold your mouse over the picture, right click it, click “Properties” and copy the URL Address. -------- Q: Can you post a picture that’s saved on your computer? A: No, it has to be hosted online before you can post it. If there’s a picture you want that’s on your computer, you can use a free site to host the picture for you. Sites such as Photobucket are pretty easy to use and free. -------- Q: How do you get a picture/avatar under your name? A: By donating. To learn more, read here. . -------- Q: Can you have a signature/How do you make a signature? A: Currently, you have to copy and paste your signature into every post you make. Sometimes automatic signatures, accessed in your profile, are enabled but not at the moment. -------- Q: What is SPAM? A: SPAM is technically Self Promoting Advertising Messages. But the acronym of spam is used for pointless, off topic posts. Filling a post with garbled letters, useless nonsense or extremely random stuff is classed as spam. -------- Q: How long are you considered a newbie? A: Your “Ignore me” rank changes around 500 posts, but you’ll probably find you’ll be considered a newbie until you’re a little better known around the forums. -------- Q: What is the thirteenth floor? A: It's a fictional place created after I made the forum tour. Before that, it was always known as "Banland". When someone was banned, it was said that people went to this Banland and a heap of people have enjoyed elaborating on the story. Seeing as most buildings and hotels don't have a 13th floor (if they go higher than that) due to superstitious reasons, when I was writing the forum tour, I made the 13th floor host the mysterious Banland. Since then, most people have picked up calling Banland the 13th floor. -------- Q: If Shane is member number 2, who’s member number 1? A: Member #1 is called Admin5. It’s the default account that is the board itself. -------- Q: Why can’t I get into the forum under the category ‘Donations’? A: That is the Nameless forum. It was created after two members donated a large amount of money to Shane and asked for their own forum. To get access, you need to ask the mods of that forum and they will decide if you will be permitted. -------- Q: How do you change your name? A: You can purchase many items from the vbPlaza to alter your username. -------- Q: What is "bump" and what does it mean? A: "Bump" is a term members use when they bring a topic back to the top of the page. When you reply to a topic, it automatically goes to the top of the topic page (with the exception of feature topics, which always stay at the top). Usually topics that haven't gotten many replies get bumped so they come to the attention of other members again. Please don't bump up really old topics, it can annoy members. -------- Q: What is a feature/pinned/sticky topic? A: A feature topic is a topic that always stays at the top of the page so everyone can see it. Usually important topics are featured. Only Moderators can pin feature topics. -------- If you have any other questions or want to know more, feel free to ask or PM me. A: Every once in a while, access to editing your current PDN will be enabled in your Profile page. Be sure to check the Announcements forum for notices on exactly when those times are. Also, you can donate. I helped. [img]tongue.gif[/img] |

| Janitor Join Date: May 2000 Gender: Posts: 9,311 Thanks: 4 Thanked 108 Times in 60 Posts | Q: Why does everyone here act so...different? A: We're all idiots. Live with it. Q: What is up with the bad reputation of newbies? I don't care of anyone disagrees. There IS a bad reputation for us, isn't there?! A: Yes. Most of the newbies here only post once and abandon the site forever. It's like they don't even care. And why would we even respect those who don't even care to be around? Also, their gullibility to the site's protocol also hands them their infamy on a silver platter. Try reading lots of topics first before registering and posting. Then, you'll eventually fit in. Q: Who the hell are "MA" and "PA"??... A: They're fictional. Mind your own business. ![]() Q: Where'd you get those smilies? A: Other sites. VGF may have them soon as their own if you donate...if you know what I mean... [ February 04, 2004, 09:00 PM: Message edited by: Misanthropy's Flunky ] |

Heck, we didn't even have a Newbie Forum. VGF was a lot different in those days, we had to chisel out our messages from stone and send them to Shane who would post them in about a month. __________________ I am terror, I am Daos. |
