Excited, but I hate that Square Enix would rather remake the game and charge us $30 than do $8 for the actual game on Virtual Console. Damn greedy Square.

I'm excited. I saw this last night, I was going to post it this morning. Beat me to the punch.

Very awesome.

Panfan: Not everybody has a Wii, therefore not everybody has the VC. The DS is still one of the best (if not the best) selling systems around. Releasing it for the DS means you get New Gamers, Little Kids, RPG Lovers, People Who You Never Thought Played Video Games Before, and Old Folks like us.

Plus, remember the days before the VC, we were happy with remakes like this. Now we complain about them. I plan to stay positive.

Any idea if this will be like FFIII or IV DS (ie, 3D-ified), or a more direct port?

Either way,

EDIT: Press Release

"A brand new dungeon and a Wireless Play mode adds exciting new dimensions to this timeless classic"

*prays for Singing Mountain*

^^^Which one? They both work for me.

Singing Mountain was the name of an unused song for an unused dungeon (which may or may not have been called Singing Mountain). If memory serves, it was supposed to take place during the second visit to 65mil BC, and it was a volcano. The song sounds more fitting for a winter-themed setting to me, but I think it would create a very surreal mood for wandering around in a volcano.

maybe it was a snowcapped volcano?

The second link was the dead one. And yeah, I remember hearing about that.

actually it was supposed to be ayla's personal quest after you revive crono but before you go after lavos when you're doing all those side quests like shutting down the robot factory and the sunstone quest and the rainbow shell quest and reviving the forrest and all that stuff you know. but for some reason they cut ayla's quest. dunno why though. and they had a special battle song for the singing mountain quest too that was also cut.
