Yeah, I'm not really buying it, tbh. How many of these games are full-fledged, providing hours of continuous entertainment?

^Equals slightly smaller screen, and plenty of smudges. There's also the number of buttons. The DS, for example, has control Pad, A, B, X, Y, Start, Select, L, R. Stuff like on-screen buttons seems like a good thing to go along with...physical buttons: On it's own, I'm not sure what to think of the idea, though it could easily be a matter of getting used to it, such as in Phantom Hourglass, which basically uses the idea of not using...physical buttons.

Schiller also believes that, compared to those of the iPhone and iPod Touch, PSP and DS games are "not a lot of fun." Although iPhone game designers, such as Doom Resurrection's John Carmack, say the Apple device's lack of buttons are a hindrance, Schiller contends the opposite.

Yes, don't believe the game designers, believe the man that is trying to sell it to you.

Stick to being a complicated phone, Apple. Don't overshoot because you will regret it.

The Iphone and all of it's clones on the market can go burn in hell. It's a god damn phone! No one needs to pay 95 bucks a month for a phone that can play mediocre games as well as downloadable novelty applications such as an egg timer.

iPod Touch, bitches.

Wolfenstein RPG (And 3D) and Doom Resurrection are pretty much the only good games I've played on it. Wolfenstein 3D is actually a pretty decent port, Doom managed to get away with the arcade-shooter feel, and Wolfenstein RPG was... Well, it's Wolfenstein RPG. More strategy than action.

I saw Duke Nukem 3D was on there, but the layout looks way too confusing.

Apple claims its computers are a better gaming platform than PCs, too. It's a good idea not to put much stock in anything those hippies have to say.

Except for that most people who're behind important marketing and design decisions hate gaming and would rather push it as a utility computer so why bother? (I hear even Jobs hates games as a whole.)

The iPhone/Touch can potentially be a better gaming platform than the DS/PSP but guess what it needs?

Other than a method of controlling that isn't tilting the screen for racing games or Super Monkey Ball, people to actually support it and make games unique to it. You don't wanna buy something you can get on a DS or PSP unless there's a significant difference between the two now do you?

Also, there have been no commercials that I have seen even proclaiming the iPhone as a gaming system.

It just makes it worse when he says its better than the other handhelds. How do I know if you don't have any easily accessable proof?

Anyone that digs Doom RPG should check out the game Strife. It's an older game made on the Doom engine that has things like merchants and NPC's involved in a plot-centric gameplay style. Probably most appealing about it, IMO, is how unique its execution was.

Urrrrrrrgh, I think I might've played Strife before. Maybe not. If not, it was a similar game.

I know I played Hexen/Heretic once, and thought it was pretty sweet.
