Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be 'really difficult'

Miyamoto: Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be 'really difficult'

I am hoping that it'll be some demonically difficult game, Mario games have got easier since Sunshine was launched, but that probably won't happen. Still, I look forward to a challenge at least.

I wish game developers would learn the difference between "difficult" and "cheap".

Nintendo hasn't made a difficult Mario game since jSMB2, so I find their application of the word to be dubious at best.

The fact that it's easier than jSMB2 could be defined as a good thing.

Though, please no Dark Matter.

If you're as practiced as I am at SMB, jSMB2 is easy.

I felt Sunshine was a cakewalk, the only difficult parts of the game being the block puzzles.

I never had any difficulty with Sunshine. Except maybe some of the hidden worlds, but those were fun because they were somewhat of a challenge.

...somewhat.

difficult by what definition? compared to SMG1? Because that was extremely easy (even though I've never gotten to beat it, stupid video game ADD)

I didn't find Galaxy or Sunshine to be very difficult at all. I was able to beat both 100 percent with only a few problems (namely the Luigi purple coins) but overall they were epic fun, but not really hard.

If they do manage to bump up the difficulty here at least to maybe 64 (which I found more difficult than the other two, personally) I'll be satisfied.

These games are all easy compared to Silver Surfer for the NES

Actually, I found NSMB Wii very difficult, but that may have been because I was doing Co-Op. NSMB wasn't that hard, and Galaxy had some challenging parts. Super Mario 64 was hard in some parts, as well as Sunshine, but mainly in the Secret Areas, and it was a bit hard to control Mario in that one. It felt a bit wonky. Though then again, maybe that's just some of us.

Super Mario Sunshine's controls were a bit sloppy. That's the only trouble I had with the game. It doesn't help that I suck at playing games...

I dunno what level of difficulty all these many unsatisfied gamers of the internet seem to be demanding, all I know is that I really enjoyed Galaxy and found it very fair. Delightful and relaxing for the most part, but with enough challenging bits to give you a sense of accomplishment. Everything necessary.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy games like the NES Castlevanias, but that kind of frustrating difficulty often works to throw me off. Cue someone claiming Castlevania is easy.

Anyway, I think it's no more than age and experience carrying over. Imagine original Super Mario Bros., easiest thing in the world for most of us today. However, who here can honestly say they weren't frustrated (if as far as to tears) at level 8-3 back in the day? I think it's the same deal now as then, we all just know how to handle it by now. Old argument, but I think it well has its point.

That's just me though, I don't blame people if they desire to spend their recreation time in frustration and anger.

Super Mario 64 was hard...? Only some missions were. Maybe it was because I was playing it on the DS...

It seems a lotta people don't realize this. Key Cavern, Face Shrine, Turtle Rock, and Eagle's Tower used to have me wandering around for months thinking "WTF DO I DO?!" nowadays I can just breeze right through them. I used to have a lot of trouble in some parts of Valkyrie Profile, nowadays, it's easy to just breeze right on through. And remember Kingdom hearts, how many of oyu guys had trouble with the Phantom? Nowadays nobody will admit that they actually had trouble on him.
