Wii Outsells NES, DS Outsells Game Boy

The numbers break down to 67.45 million Wii units sold as of the end of December, compared to lifetime NES sales of 61.91 million units. The DS has sold 125.13 million units as of December, compared to lifetime Game Boy sales of 118.69 million.

We believe the coarse phrase you're looking for is holy crap.

Let's put it in a bit better perspective. Here's the best-selling consoles of all time.

1. Sony PlayStation 2 (released in 2000) - 138,000,000 sales
2. Nintendo DS (released in 2004) - 125,130,000 sales
3. Game Boy & Game Boy Color (released in 1989 and 1998 respectively) - 118,690,000 sales
4. Sony PlayStation (released in 1994) - 102,490,000 sales
5. Game Boy Advance (released in 2001) - 81,470,000 sales
6. Nintendo Wii (released in 2006) - 67,450,000 sales
7. Nintendo Entertainment System (released in 1983) - 61,910,000 sales

I'd say Nintendo's had a good run this generation.

Then there's Zelda Wii, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver, Nintendo's run is still very well alive, and sales are probably going to improve.
